Carmichael was hotter than **** (which means he was better than brilliant) and it will be fantastic for bikle sport to have such a prodigy on the biggest motoring show in the world.

BUT the G.O.A.T. moniker only truly works when applied to the likes of Roger Federer in tennis or multiple kick-ass World MotoGP Champion Valentino Rossi... or former MOTOCROSS stars like the great Georges Jobe and Stefan Everts who won 6 and 10 World titles respectively (I think).

Ergo, as wonderful as it really will be to see Carmichael putting a Suzi MX machine through its paces on Top Gear, he didn't cut it atr World level. The phrase 'world class' is used too often, let's choose our G.O.A.T.s with care!

Okay guys, hand up.

I bow to better knowledge. If an FIM World title really isn't that good, then what's the point of them even being called that?

If he really is the GOAT, then so he is.

A chastened RaceFan.

RaceFan Carmichael proved his world class level at numerous MX des Nations events. There's no denying Everts talent at motocross but Carmichael was his equal. But unlike Everts, Carmichael was a supreme supercross rider as well.

The term GOAT was created for Carmichael long before Rossi recieved it.

"Tennis now, and Roger Federer has been hailed as the GOAT of tennis. Critics say he was lucky that Valentino Rossi chose not to become a tennis player."

I think you'll find the term GOAT was first used to describe a four legged hoofed animal with horns that will eat pretty much anything. I know this because i checked the Oxford English Dictionary :p

Sorry i will go back into my hole.....

Oh and great news about another bike(r) being on Top Gear. Before we know it we'll have a bike group test...ok now i've gone too far...back to my hole...

"he didn't cut it atr World level"

OMG - you're kidding right?

Everyone knows that the richest, biggest, baddest, and most exciting MX is in AMA Supercross - well, almost everyone. The FIM Euro stuff is almost a joke compared to AMA SX. Those guys come over here to ride with the best - they don't go over there. And AMA SX IS a FIM world championship by the way.

And yes the G.O.A.T tag was created and applied to Ricky loooong before Rossi. Looooooooooong before.
