DAKAR: Motorcyclist found dead

The 2009 Dakar Rally has been rocked by the news that motorcyclist Pascal Terry has been found dead on one of the stages.

In a statement released by the Dakar organisers, 49-year-old Terry was found following a search having gone missing on Sunday's second stage.

"We are saddened to learn that Pascal Terry was found dead in the night from Jan 6 to 7 at 0210 am.

"He was in a place very hard to access in the middle of heavy bushes, some 15 metres from his bike. He had his helmet off and had found some shadow."

Terry's death will be subject to an investigation.

Meanwhile, British driver Paul Green and his navigator Matthew Harrison remain in a serious condition after their car overturned on the opening day's stage.
