Reigning 250cc world champion Marco Simoncelli's participation in this weekend's Qatar season-opener remains 'possible', after successful surgery to insert a screw into his fractured scaphoid.
The Italian broke the bone in his right wrist during a motocross accident last Saturday, ruling him out of the final pre-season test at Losail on Monday and Tuesday.
However, after undergoing a new surgical technique on Tuesday morning, the Clinica Mobile states that the Gilera star's Losail participation "which had seemed impossible after the accident and injury, is now a possibility".
Should he try and ride, Simoncelli will be grateful that there is now only one free practice session on Friday.
