FTR doubles up for final 2009 Spanish Moto2 races

Graeme Gowland will be one of two riders for FTR Moto in the final two Moto2 Spanish Championship races of 2009 at Jerez and Valencia, the Joe Darcey Team-affiliated outfit has confirmed
FTR MOTO will have a two-rider line-up for the final two Moto2 Spanish Championship races, at Jerez on 15 November and Valencia a week later, it has been revealed.

Working closely with its development partner, the Barcelona-based Joe Darcey Team, FTR will have at least two of its M209 bikes in action in the final two rounds, with British rider Graeme Gowland already confirmed alongside an as-yet-undecided second rider. FTR's goal is for its 2010 Moto2 World Championship challenger to be in a position to triumph in the Qatar curtain-raiser on 11 April, and is increasing its research and development efforts in readiness.

“Since the machine's debut earlier this month at Montmeló, we have received a lot of positive feedback and we now need to progress the M209 to ensure it is a winner from the start,” explained FTR Moto director Steve Bones.

“We always planned to produce more machines immediately after the first prototype had made its track debut, and those machines are now complete. We've laid out a plan with the Joe Darcey Team, and we are now in negotiations to determine who will race alongside Graeme at Jerez and Valencia.”

Gowland tested the M209 in a two-day outing at Albacete last week, and is now relishing the opportunity to race the bike at Jerez and Valencia.

“The machine is absolutely amazing,” the British ace enthused. “I knew from the first lap that the potential of the FTR Moto machine is huge. Plus, the FTR guys arrived with different geometry and steering options following their first shakedown at Montmeló, so it was really good to be able to test alternative settings.

“Since the Albacete test we've spoken about some additional settings, and those parts are already prepared for my next outing so it's clear that the commitment is there from all parties.”

I like it - it looks like some a supermono. Hope Gowla can get a decent result and impress the team.
