Kallio likes aluminum swingarm, Espargaro impatient

Having used the carbon-fibre Ducati swingarm for most of the season, Mika Kallio found an instant improvement with the latest aluminum version on day two of the Valencia MotoGP test.

"We have tried the aluminium swingarm and compared to yesterday we have improved by six tenths of a second. Not too bad I would say,” said the Pramac Ducati rider. “In addition to the swingarm we tried other small changes that lead me to feel more comfortable riding the bike. I hope that tomorrow morning I can improve more to end my first year in MotoGP positively."

"Mika wanted to try many different technical solutions, including the aluminium swingarm, which gave positive feedback. It seems that Mika is better with this set-up and we will continue to work towards this tomorrow morning,” confirmed technical director Fabiano Sterlacchini.

Kallio set the eighth fastest lap time of the 16 MotoGP riders present, with new team-mate Aleix Espargaro just a few tenths slower in eleventh place.

“Aleix is very close to Mika's lap time and this shows that despite his young age he will be competitive in his first [full] year in the MotoGP World Championship,” declared Sterlacchini.

"I do not know why but despite the good time recorded today I feel I can do better,” said Espargaro, who claimed a best finish of eleventh during four 2009 MotoGP appearances fro Pramac. “I must be patient because I still have a lot to learn in this category.”

The Pramac riders will get their first taste of the 2010 Ducati in February's test at Sepang.
