Hayden: I'm doing my own thing |
Lone Repsol Honda rider Nicky Hayden says there have been no major changes to his testing schedule, following team-mate Dani Pedrosa's hand injury at Sepang last week.
"With Dani not here I'm just focusing on my own thing, we're completely different riders, so I've got to keep working on my own stuff," said Hayden, the 2006 world champion, after the first day of testing at Phillip Island.
"The big difference right now is that I've got more engineers working with me, because usually they have to split their time and focus on the both of us. I'm pretty lucky right now to have all the engineers focusing on me," added the American.
As well as carrying the full weight of Honda's factory RC212V development, Hayden is continuing to work with two different engine specifications - the new, but underpowered, pneumatic-valve design and also the standard conventional-valve unit.
Hayden was eighth fastest after day one of three in Australia.
Last week Pedrosa admitted to being "a little worried" at leaving development of the new bike to Hayden. Pedrosa aims to return to action at the Jerez IRTA test, which takes place from February 16-18.
