Indianapolis MotoGP test - Tuesday |
The test marks the first time that MotoGP machines have lapped the new Indianapolis road course.
The primary aim of the test, which is only available to riders not competing in the full world championship season, is to provide tyre data for Bridgestone and Michelin ahead of the inaugural Red Bull Indianapolis GP on September 12-14.
Double AMA Superbike champion Ben Spies is the only rider testing at Indianapolis this week who will also be taking part in the grand prix weekend.
Spies, who made his MotoGP debut replacing the injured Loris Capirossi at Donington Park, will ride a third Rizla Suzuki at both Laguna Seca and Indianapolis.
Ducati test rider Niccolo Canepa was the fastest rider on the opening day, by just 0.0513 secs from Spies, while the highest top speed - of 186.002 mph (299.341 km/h) - was set by Kawasaki's Olivier Jacque.
A second and final day of MotoGP testing at Indianapolis takes place on Wednesday.
