The outing marked the first true test for Indy's new 2.62-mile road course and Spies was happy with the way the track improved, providing more traction as the test advanced.
"This has always been a car track. I never thought motorcycles would be here," Spies said. "I think it's good for the city and this part of the U.S. I think it's a great area, and there's no better place to go when it comes to racing. I think it's going to be good come September and a lot of people show up. We've got a lot of fans. Most of them will be Americans, and they'll be rooting for John [Hopkins], Nicky [Hayden], me and Colin [Edwards]."
Spies will now prepare for perhaps the biggest weekend of his racing career so far, at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on July 18-20, when he will ride in both the AMA Superbike Championship event - where he is on target for a third successive title - and the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix.
