Crash.net recently asked for your MotoGP star of 2008, from a shortlist of ten riders provided, and - with voting having now closed - the time has come to reveal the results.

During the next ten weekdays, we will be revealing the top ten in reverse order, with the winner being revealed on Wednesday December 3.

More than 54,000 votes were cast for the MotoGP poll. The average score given for each rider was used to produce the final ranking.

Colin Edwards began the season looking rejuvenated by a switch to the satellite Tech 3 Yamaha team, taking pole at round four (China) and then delighting Herve Poncharal's team further by claiming a podium at their home French GP (round five).

The Texan took a further podium at round nine (Assen) and qualified on the front row a total of five times - but all of those highlights came during the first ten rounds of the season.

Indeed, Edwards - by far the most experienced of the three Michelin-shod Yamaha riders - scored 98 points during the first nine rounds, but only 46 points during the last nine rounds, when he took a best race finish of sixth.

It is that downturn which probably explains why he was ranked one place lower than his championship position in your star ranking.
