Sorry but this guy is yesterdays news. He spent 3 winless seasons in MotoGP. He was clearly the number 2 rider to Capirossi when was in the factory Ducati MotoGP team and did little to impress on the RC211V, a proven package. Sounds like a courtesy ride to me. Another world superbike champion who underperformed in MotoGP. If this is Ducati's hope to improve the desomsedici, I'm afraid they will be disappointed.

sorry but im not a rossi fan boy, im a major racing fan, and race supersport myself, i love troys style and want to win as much as i do rossi, its just what i think not a fanboy, sorry if this has pissed you off,its what ive seen and as a racer myself i know how hard they are riding, 10 million light years above me, its rossi that does it with smooth control at the highest level since 1996,long time at that level,i know racing i know what it takes to be fighting for titles on a smaller scale of course,DAMO sort it out, do you really think a 8 times world champ(ROSSI)really would have any problems regardless of bayliss age?? biaggi, sete, stoner, to name but a few he has shown his worth, :p

It isn't Bayliss's fault Rossi waited till he was nearly 40 and retired before challenging him to a WSBK race. Really gutsy Rossi..

lets get things in perspective here. Troy is and will forever be a Ducati legend. He stated when he retired that he is always here for Ducati when needed and would test in 09. That is what he is doing.
He is one of the bravest men I have ever had the pleasure of watching at a track and also one of the nicest, down to earth, humblest and bloody decent folk off it.
Let's give him some credit here and pack up this stupd slagging off session. This is not a 'compare with Vale / CS' session. Christ he hasn't started the test yet! Let's see what he does to help - as he is a team player who is helping where he can.
Go Baylisstic!!

Jon,

You comments go to prove you are a Rossi fanboy going off records and not really looking beyond.

It's funny you seem to think the Ducati was special right out of the box and it was just the rider that caused the issues. I think the rider was much better than the support he was given at Ducati.

Funny thing, when Baylis came back for his sole win in GP he managed to do with the majority of his core engineering group from his Superbike team and not the group he worked with in GP previously.

As for Camel, I dont think Bayliss was suited to the bike, I guess a little like Melandri and others on the Ducati.

Well im not a fan boy of any championship, love gp and sbk.my opinion is bayliss great sbk rider, good moto gp rider, not a mark on what rossi has done for the sport, nor is troy as talented, dont get me wrong the man is a legend in sbk.ROSSI offered to race 1st round of sbk this year, troy was asking ducati for 1 million to race against rossi,i was so gutted that he thought of money and not just to have a race that everyone wants to see, rossi in his back yard playing his sport, ROSSI would win, anybody who knows racing knows this, troy didnt really do much in gps over a full season with good tools, one day at valencia with no title presure, give me a break, records dont lie, ROSSI is king, :)

Comparing Superbike and MotoGP like some morons do on here is like comparing apples and oranges. One is for production-based bikes, the other one for prototypes. This has nothing to do with "1st or 2nd class"...
Instead of acting like Troy has accomplished nothing and doesn't know how to ride a bike, you should tear your wall of ignorance down and show some respect.
Also, when Troy started in MotoGP, Ducati did as well and had the same teething troubles all new bikes have, so that is not really the "best material" as one commenter here said. And the Camel Honda being the best material in 2005??? Oh, please...
