Dawg, I've rarely responded to your flag waving american sentiment and your posts are usually resonably balanced. But, how much longer do you really believe Edwards deserves in the series when he has clearly reached the extent of his ability? Few riders get his opportunities and I'm sure I'm not the only one who's bored with him languishing mid-pack on a bike that I believe should do better. If you think my comment is overstated, mate, I've barely started!
btw, I don't dislike him at all, I just think if he delivered half as well as he talks himself up, he'd be the one going for his 101st win and not Curlylocks.

i would love to see him grab a laguna podium and anyone who's seen him punt a sbk or motogp bike around the place knows he can do it...
but will he or wont he???
consistency hasn't been good - unless you enjoy being between 5th and 11th...
you would like to hope that he could be somewhat reassured in the fact that his best results have always been on "riders tracks" and/ or in the wet (philip island)... with a better package we would see better results but better bikes don't grow on trees.

CV can do it. The only problem is how strong will everyone else be? IMHO his machine is under powered compared to the Repsol boys, and the Fiat boys. I am crossing my fingers and toes, but if the top 5 are strong this weekend I see a 4th or 5th for CV. Go Chris Go!

It would surprise me because this years field is even stronger than in '08.
But Vermin could do with a good result because contract signing time is nigh,

I like CV, but I doubt Vermeulen or Toseland will be in MotoGP next year. Suzuki and Tech 3 can sign rookies unlike the Honda and Yamaha factory teams. Maybe back to WSBK for both of them?

Suzuki needs new recruiters. They either pick "un-rippened" riders like Hopkins & CV or "stale" ones like Capirossi.

Vermeulen was NOT a great prospect after being soundly beaten by Corser in 2005. How they determined that a good sign has been amply demonstrated the last 3.5 years ie. no improvement. Hopkins (or his management) deserves credit for world class...contract negotiations.

He won't podium at Laguna or anywhere else.

If he sucks and rain is supposedly the great equalizer - then how come he wins/podiums/performs well in the rain? The Suzuki is not a good bike and has NEVER been a good bike throughout the entirety of the MotoGP 4-stroke era. That is one reason for his lack of performance. I don't think he has it in him to be top 3 week in and week out like Rossi/Lorenzo/Stoner (but then again who does have that capability??), but if he were on a better bike I think his results would definately be better than what they are now.

well said Matt. remember gibernau, was only good in the rain(suzuki rgv 500) never up front until he got on a a competative honda gresini, and almost won a world championship. he was lucky had a lot of backing from spain before pedrosa arrived... we will have wait a see what will happen. you would think that having only one bike per rider next year that some teams might even have 3 or more riders per team. or more wild cards

Vermin, at the time you moved to Motgp I rated you as amongst the best riders in the world but..over three years and only one win, not so sure now. JT has had only one full season and has arguably produced more but, dissenters are calling for his neck, I don't get it.
