Very good indeed. On top of this Yamaha does very well in World Suberbikes, World Supersport and in Britisch Superbikes too.

In my humble opinion Yamaha builds very good (race)bikes, but they are also very good at hiring the best drivers (and teams).

It is the combination of a very good bike, rider and team that does the trick. :)

In 2003 Yamaha were nowhere in every discipline. Then along comes Valentino Rossi with a point to prove, for my money he has singlehandedly driven Yamaha to this success... Incredible..

Rossi has 'singlehandedly' driven Yamaha to success eh.. what a genius he is to have innovated the the long stroke in line 4 cyclinder engine for Yamaha, who knew he had such engineering skill Lol.

The M1 is the best bike out there by a country mile (since start of 08) due to Rossi AND Burgess, but mostly through clever thinking by Yamaha R&D.

It's nice to finally see consistently positive comments being made about Yamaha. I have always preferred them to the corporate giant that is Honda. (The Honda bandwagon must surely be full by now . . . ?) If nothing else, I always thought they were the best looking bikes out there. I loved the styling on the 2005 990cc M1 especially.

I'm getting sidetracked. The fact is, the biggest appeal for me has to be the friendly atmosphere that Yamaha seem to generate. The way they treat everyone involved in the project, including the fans, encourages loyalty and, yes, fun! They seem to appreciate more than anyone else that MotoGP is a spectator sport first and a business second.

In my humble opinion Yamaha build the best street and race bikes by far...the quality and refinement of their product is hard to beat and their always a step ahead in development.....they just got a raw deal with Biaggi and checa in the early days of motogp but the 1998-2001 yzr was a beter bike than the Nsr and the 2002 M1 was pretty goood bike also just had Mr Biaggi and we all know how pathetic Biaggi was on a Honda and in Wsbk.

"Driven"

You have a bit of a short memory, about 3 years ago Rossi threatened to leave unless yamaha gave him a better bike.

Yes the VR/JB combo got the bike to handle and turn, but credit must be given to Yamaha in getting big horsepower out of their engines with the fuel allowed.

Yamaha are the only manufacturer on the grid to have developed new technology to get these results, all the other bikes are using existing or borrowed technology.

Their high rpm DFI system can't be used next year because Dorna has banned the use of the ultra high pressure fuel pumps needed to run it.

I hope Yamaha can sell/use this technology somewhere else.

The only thing that these comments reveal is what a mob of easily swayed lemmings you are! Of course when you buy a Yamaha from your local dealer, it comes with free riding tuition from Wonderboy himself, and come service time, you're greeted with that loving smile from The Man, JB, twirling his favorite 3/4 whitworth spanner, ready to drop your oil, adjust your tappets and tweak your rebound, ready for a lap record attempt of your local suburban raceway.
Will this prepubescent silliness ever end? Bloody kiddies, I never know whether to laugh at 'em or throw up!

I agree with Driven.

Yamaha R&D has been clever, but the driving force behind it all has been Rossi. He insisted on the best and pushed till he got it.Yamaha really had no choice but to give it to him. what were they going to do? Say no and let the most popular racer in history pack his bags and bring championships to Suzuki, Ducati or Kawasaki?
