There is no "home advantage" at this level of the sport. With or without the repavement and design, any advantage after the first year would have been gone.

Why was there no helicopter flying above Assen last week?
i,ve visited the TT for 8 years, and never seen it without an helicopter flying above the track..

it gives nice views..... so why not?

Not so sure about the whole Home Advantage thing, usually ends up being a disadvantage...

Elias can't finish the Catalan circuit, ever.. Lorenzo binned it in Jerez this year.. Takahashi in Japan.. RdP's first crash of the year was in Le Mans practice.
And also last year, JT buggered up the first corner at Donington.. and didn't De Angelis come off at his home GP last year? - I'm sure there's more..

The first few years yes, he and the others that had raced Laguna had a small advantage. But after the track changes and now 4 years running here the advantage is out the window. But the home crowd will likely spur he and Hayden to perform a little better.

As a side note I can't help but notice that there are no US wildcards this year! Is this a testament to Global recession, a lack of domestic talent or simply the fact that the Daytona Motorsports group has erased all credibility for the US racers. Maybe a little of each?

Find it strange for DORNA to be flying the Teams back and forth to the US for Laguna Seca and than back to europe and than back to Indianapolis and than back to Europe. Doesn't make cent$.

I predict Colin Edwards will have front wheel chatter.

Good point Saran - raised in a timely fashion - if DORNA would just get a grip on the circus logistics then maybe they wouldn't have to interfere with the introduction of STUPID tyre/engine/fuelling rules that actually harm the standard of racing - in the unconvincing guise of "cost-cuttin" - who's fooling who ???

Me thinks the Hopper leaked all the track secrets after his bitter loss to Hayden and Edwards in 05 and as evidenced in DTK, along with his DNF in 07 and no show in 08. If Hopper aint gonna win, aint no other Yank gonna upstage him!
