I think for comparison purposes the last three years are more relevant not because it's the 800cc era, but because they've both been factory riders.

To compare Rossi's circumstances in 06 (factory bikes, factory technicians, factory budget, Michelin "specials", etc, etc) to Caseys circumstances (customer bike, new team to the class with no previous experience, shoestring budget, over the counter tyres, etc, etc),................

well surely anyone can see that a comparison is hardly valid!

Casey Stoner rode to his fourth victory of the 2009 MotoGP season, and second in a row, with an incredible wet weather ride at Sepang in Malaysia on Sunday.

"Since 2006 (Stoner's first MotoGP season, he's won 20 races. In that same period, Rossi has won 24 races in MotoGP. At the beginning of the 2006 MotoGP season, Rossi was 53 victories ahead of Stoner. Currently, Rossi is 57 MotoGP victories ahead of Stoner."

So not only should Stoner have beaten Rossi in his rookie year on a satelite bike, he should have been winning races while he wasn't even in the category!! LMAO!

The inescapable fact is that Stoner is nearly 7 years younger than Rossi, and already winning races at a faster rate..

Stoner isn't winning races at a faster rate, he'd need 15 plus year career at his present rate to catch Rossi's present MotoGP victory total. He hasn't even been able to keep up with Rossi over the last four years let alone Rossi's entire career.

Can Stoner win the 2010 title???? hahahahaha...I don't think so...

Please remember, there will be lots of young guns out there, simonceli, bautista, barbera, aoyama, and BEN SPIES !!!

There will be some old faces around too, Rossi the GOAT, Pedrosa, Dovi and Lorenzo...Melandri also will be getting a good bike next year..

Stoner will be extremely lucky to get 2nd place again at the end of 2010 season!!

Stoner is the only person on planet earth who can ride the Ducati,he makes that bike look way better than it is.He is a big talent with many years racing left in him.Rossi is with out a doubt one of the greatest ever but his best years are behind him now

Stoner rode a fantastic race in the wet, I already tipped him for the win in those conditions as he is very strong in the rain.
The thing about a World Championship is you have to be at the top all season, withstand the physical and psychological pressure for the whole year and still be the best. We will see how that works for him in 2010, with some new talent (Simoncelli, Spies, Bautista, Aoyama) thrown into the mix and all top contracts up for grabs it could become one of the best years yet :) :)

Pablo I can nearly hear your boots shaking from here! Why are you scared to compare their time in GP while they have both had factory bikes? (When was the last time ANYONE won on a non factory bike??)Could it be because Casey has more wins, and is still only at the early stages of his career? MWAHAHAHAHAA

Just winning races doesn't get you there, you have to do it all season.

starvos, Quit being silly and do the math. Stoner has 26 percent of Rossi's victories while at 40 percent of Rossi's time in MotoGP. Obviously, Stoner isn't winning at a rate close to let alone equal to or greater than Rossi.

People seem to forget that during the 800 cc era Stoner has had a much better bike than rossi until this year, and that he can only win if he has the best bike, and tyres etc and he can streak away from the field. what happens when he gets in a battle for the lead with anybody? he falls of!! what happens when rossi gets stoners tyres in 08? Stoner gets battered!!! yes, he is the only one who can ride that ducati, but thats only becuase the bike is built for him. And the only reason why he is so good in the wetis because the ducati has the most advanced traction control system on the grid!!! Casey stoner is the Jenson Button of moto gp, he can only win on the best equipment!!

Consistently having the best machinery and best engineers along with you does no harm either.

@aston123, mate you're an idiot!
