what authority spies fan......the motogp fairy who directly briefs back to you? i like spies but fan boys like you are something else. i have it on good authority that rossi is s**ting himself with fear and lorenzo is considering retirement. dorna are considering declaring spies world champ after the first round of 2010. yeah JT will be gutted, until next year when he lifts the WSBK crown for the 3rd time on a 3rd manufacturer and spies is pootling about on a tech 3 for a couple of years. gutted!!

MOTOGP » Ben Spies sets an interesting top speed

Ben Spies was ranked only 15th fastest during Friday practice at Valencia, but set the joint seventh fastest top speed.

Could be that with only 1 session under his belt, he is geared high and doesn't have optimal gearing for the corners (hence the slow lap time).
I hate all this speculation bull**** after just 1 session.

Based on his first laps, I think we can pretty much expect he'll be faster by the end of the weekend than Toseland and Hayden.

That's gonna be pretty embarrassing for JT.

ace picture... thank god.. the tech 3 bikes have looked sh7te for years.. Spies Strilgarda bike is for my money the best looking bike out there, if not the fastest just yet...

Of course he should have a fresh engine but the speed trap time really doesn't mean much.

So maybe he is on a factory spec bike.. Faster than tech3 but slower lap time- very suspicious

So much for the "he's too big for a Motogp bike" theory! His corner exit speed surely helps him get down the straight. But 306 aint bad.

I have it on good authority it was actually the slowest bike out there - it was just Ben's brilliance that was propelling it to the seventh fastest top speed. He literally can spin wool into gold.

Either Spies has an M1 closer to the Fiat than the Tech3, or he's getting out of the corners very well.

Next session he'll be in top 10, qualifier will be on front row.
Don't laugh, he's pulled rabbits out of his hat before
