I don't know what would happen to tyre development. But I do know that F1, wsbk and bss have all seen great racing since introducing a control tyre rule. Just think about it. In Sundays F1 there was more overtaking in that race than in a whole of the 2008 MotoGP season. I used to be against the use of control tyres, but not now. Just give me close exciting racing. Please!

MOTOGP » Single tyre verdict announced

The definitive 2008 tyre rules are still to be decided, but one thing is now certain - MotoGP will remain a multi-tyre championship after the single-brand proposal was withdrawn.

Good news. we need the prototype class to use prototype tyres. Also, what would happen to tyre development if motogp joined wsbk, f1, and bsb in implementing single tyre rules?

I think the control tyre would have made for better, closer, racing. Its worked in world superbikes. look how good the racing has been in that!! you also only have to look at the 125's and 250's to see the same thing! Completely agree with Jacko!
Bring back overtakeing, infact bring back rider skill and ditch the traction control while your at it!!! :D

And Pedrosa stays on Michelins against his whish? what a shame! He was going to be the next big thing. Now they talk about Lorenzo and the new wonder boy. Too bad - Pedro gave us some great racing in the 250s. Much better than Stoner!

Well, this decision means Rossi got his way and will be on Bridgestones.

I also think that 1 tyre rule would be better.

This year too many races were deciced by tyres. If you look back only Pedrosa and Rossi were the guys on michelin who could do something... the rest was nowhere to be seen.

I go for 1 tyre rule... and if not I hope that repsol switches to Bridgestone.

Could be the next step a single motorcycle rule ?
So everyone on the same motor ?
Nice solution for those who have not a motor with the newest specs or not the winning one
Roberts would definitely agree

I think the tyres have been a scapegoat to at least some degree.

Do we have a pack of bridgestones close racing with a close racing pack of Michelins
25 seconds behind them? No we don't, the whole field is spread out in 2007.

The real culprit is that the machines have gone from more power than the rider can dial in to less with the 800cc rule.

Grand prix motorcycles need to have more power than the tyre can lay down to get good racing, also to ensure that the best riders can fight for the front positions.

Fantastic News.

Now Stoner fans can get a reality check in 2008 when Melandri beats him with no experience ever on the Ducati.

Stoner and Hayden should move in with each other and start a rock band.
