How many times have we heard this during the season?
And regarding improvements from Yamaha, Rossi has to play his part. As lead team rider, Rossi is responsible for Yamaha bike and Michelin tyre development. Yet, he leaves development and testing to Edwards (who really lacks the capability to do this) whilst Rossi's off doing Ferrari tests, WRC drives, etc.
Then, Rossi (& his fans) have the cheek to blame Yamaha & Michelin for doing a bad job!!!
Basically, he has got exactly what he deserved. Rossi's lazy compared with someone like Hayden.
If Rossi dedicates himself 100% to bike development and testing, then perhaps he will have a decent package in 2008. After all, he's paid enough - he should put the work and effort in.

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about Otto.

If I take away your running shoes and give you slippers,
will you still do the 100 meter under 10 seconds?

Hey Morgue I think you are the one with no idea.
Otto makes a good point and it will be real hard for Rossi in 2008 if he is the only Yamaha with Bridgestones.
Mind you I guess this will be the ready made excuse for 2008 then.

Partly agree with 1st comment!
Yamaha have always been slow to react and give teams what they need.
Kenny Roberts Senior started to make his own bikes because Yamaha
pissed him off that much. I think he only has a team so he can try and
beat them(his back must really be against the wall to go with Honda. Wayne Rainey won 3 Championships on one of the slowest bikes on the grid.
Rossi is fantastic BUT?
His tyres are black and round and come with technicians just like everyone else.
His suspension is olins and comes with technicians just like half the grid.
Factory 800cc engine blah blah.
It's team and rider not 10hp when you have 220hp.
I

Dont understand Otto, how many testing sessions did Rossi miss that Edwards was at? Who developed the Yam for 04 and 05? Rossi has put in a lot of hard work, but I agree that they have got complacent and expected to put any bike on the grid and win. Ducati showed everyone up this year and I am hoping that they all have improved a lot for 08, as I want exciting racing, not knowing how was going to win until the last corner of the last lap - the kind of racing that 2005 had! Yes Rossi dominated, but it was fantastic racing!! I am going to Valencia at the weekend and Im really hoping that I havent wasted my money - havent paid to watch stoner disappear into the distance.... ;)

Well I don't want to speculate on whether Rossi has been working hard this year or not, but I think it's easy to assume he doesn't because he's always won so easily. On the other hand, listen to what Colin Edwards says in the Faster sequel and it's the opposite..

Anyway, I was taking another look over Spalding's "MotoGP Technology" book, and it has quite a few interesting tidbits. One of them was that Yamaha sacrificed a lot of development time for the 800cc to get last year's bike working properly. Remember how many engine failures and what not happened in 2006??

Also, even if Rossi+team does all development, the parts still come from Japan, so they do have to work with what they're given

Are we talking about the same tyres that Pedrosa seems to be doing pretty well with right now?
