I was wondering are they going to test or encounter the different weather conditions ( windy with lots of sand and dust and/or wet which is not so likely but possible ) and the effects on the night light in those conditions?

I think the windy/sand part has been taken care of by wetting the run off areas which helps to keep the sand from flying onto the track. I'm pretty sure the temp drops a lot but it's a hell of a lot better then racing in 130 degree weather for the rider and the bikes!

The 5 riders that run the tests were not what you would call the "Elite of MotoGP" surely it is not just on the say of these 5 riders, that the event go ahead at night, were there riders from other classes there, and was the Offical Riders Representive present, asking all the questions that should be asked,if this event does go ahead at night it is hoped that it is not a dissaster????

Thing is it rarely gets windy at night out here...and especially between March and October...So I cant see it being a problem and the slightly lower temps at night will be better for the fans at the circuit

I am from Qatar and witnessed the test last night. It was perfect! Just for information sake, only the first four corners were under the Musco lights and the rest of the curcit was under standard flood lights which the curcuit always had, and seriously the track looks amazing and even the standard flood lights were good enuff for riding. Its going to be amazing to see when the complete track is illuminted, i just cant express the feeling in words after seeing it last night. Awesome!!

Smitty, Valentino Rossi took part in the first test they conducted there in the dark conditions and he is one of the main safety representitives for MotoGP. He seemed to think it would be ok then if they got the shadows sorted out over certain parts of the track IIRC.
But, I can't see why they are racing at night there either! Seems like a waste of electricity to me! Nothing against the folks that live there but it's not a great track and you get no crowd... Money eh?

Capirossi says: "There's hardly any difference between day and night riding in these conditions". So why not just race during the day then instead of being gimmicky and putting it under lights. SUre it'll look good but seems a waste of money. Also how many carbon credits need to be bought to offset the emissions to keep Al Gore happy?
