Its probably a year because he already said this was his last year in GP and hes going back to AMA to win the Superbike Championship in 2009 for Yamaha. Not winning the AMA title is something he said he regrets not doing before he went to wsbk. Yamaha also said they back him 100% on making the move and he will get a full factory ride when he gets there.

Lets hope he has better luck in AMA, but beating the likes of Mladin, Hodgenson, DuHamel will be a tall order. Especially on a crappy R1.

I wish him all the best. lets HOPE he can win at least ONE GP race before he leaves for good.

My question is, why is he still riding a Fiat liveried bike at the Sepang test?

You are lucky to have a contract for next year.never to win a Motogp race. You are a waste off space on the grid.Give someone else your seat, someone who deserves it and can win.Not be happy just going around and being a test rider.****** .

They are lucky to have him, he will be 'used' for his tyre knowledge (Michelin)
and he knows the bike. Besides he is an all round fun person and publicity generator. Perfect fit for the team.
One year, maybe two. Then back to the States, Everybody happy :)

I agree with Morgue. I don't think hes really with Tech3 to win races. I think hes there to bring exposure and publicity to the team. Love or hate him he has a huge following with millions of fans world wide, and strong sponsors with deep pockets.

Yamaha absolutely loves the guy.

Also the reason why he still has the Fiat Livery is because he is still a factory rider but he is on loan to Tech3 until he retires from MotoGP next year. Collin made it clear that when he moved to Tech3 he did not loose his factory status. Don't be surprised when you see him in his Fiat Yamaha livery and not the Tech3 livery in 2008.

There's nobody I'd like to see turn it round next year more than Colin. He's probably the most popular guy in the paddock and is hugely respected by Michelin and Yamaha alike, for bloody good reason imo.
I was at Donington this year when he managed to stick the M1 on pole - the place went absolutely nuts.

I'm sure nobody is more disappointed than him at his results since coming to MotoGP. His performance in WSB was phenomenal and he must have expected far more.
Moving out of Vale's shadow and into a team with JT may well stoke up that fire in him. He's certainly not going to want to be beaten by another double champ from WSB is he, and certainly not one in his rookie year.
