Good decision, at least he gets to race!
playing third violin to Ducati and hoping and praying fre the odd wildcard appearance is nothing for a young bloke.

Good luck Chaz, kick them Yanks! ;)

Mick,

As far I one can tell from various reports the tyre testing contract was 30 days per year 2 with card rides and maybe outings if someone was injured. Not an atractive proposition if you want to race.
I read that Chaz tried to get Ducati to support him with a 848 bike
in the FX series so he could still race, but Ducati refused. So it seems he was keen but Ducati less so.

The Attack Kawasaki ride is a competitive ride in a hard series,
so good luck to him. I hope he gets in the top 5.

Not an idiot at all.
The last few races showed he wasn't up to MotoGP standard, and with a competitive ride in AMA, he can be at the sharp end and make some reasonable money.

Wayne, You'll find its more to to with the D'Atin team being
underfunded and under performing as a whole rather than an
issue with the rider. - Davies (or Hofman) :p

The Attack team is the Kawasaki factory team for FX and Supersport in the
USA, so maybe this is a good career move. Witness that the guy
he's replacing tested the MGP bike & wild carded for Kawasaki
at Laguna Seca. :)

Oh yeah, The Attack team won the AMA Supersport in 2007 with
Roger Lee Hayden, so this seems to be a very good move for Chaz, especially a the AMA teams major sponsor is the same sponsor as the Hopkins sponsor in
MotoGP.
I did here a rumour that the Monster brand would be Team Greens
MotoGP sponsor in 2008 as the are sponsoring a majority of Kawasaki
racing effort and MotoGP would complete the set!

Chaz is a fast, young Brit who will continue to get interest from MotoGP teams as long as he progresses and wins races in the AMA. I think Toseland's ship might have already sailed as far as being a top rider in MotoGP. Bradley Smith is still too young, so Davies might yet get his chance.

He made the right decision. How many races have Vittoriano Guareschi, Shinichi Itoh, and Neil Hodgson actually participated in in the last couple of years?

Better to keep the competitive juices on the boil.

Have to agree with DD above me here. He's too young to be plodding round a test track with only the promise of 1 or 2 confirmed wild card rides next year. he said on the motoGP coverage from eurosport he wanted to race and now he's got a really good chance of doing something with a works bike. The people in the paddock at AMA knew what sort of bike he was on at Celtic Racing (pretty much a customer machine with very little Yamaha input AFAIK) and to see him up battling near the front pretty much every round when he's hardly even seen or heard of half the tracks surprised a lot of people. Keeping the competitive juices flowing while riding for Kawasaki might still be a good thing!
