MOTOGP » West: It's been a crazy year!

Just to put things into perspective, an 800cc motogp bike is still a lot closer to a 990cc motogp bike in terms of weight, dimensions, power and set-up than it is to any 250cc gp bike or a 600cc supersport. So I agree with Parker that every other rider on the grid had a significant advantage of experience over Westy. Absolute ******** he has to start winning races before he gets applauded. At motogp level how many of the 2007 riders have actually won a race? Or more than one race? Or how many have won more than five races and how many seasons has it taken to get those wins? (Rossi excluded).

He was very lucky that the rule change(s) came along, that's all.
Once Ducati realized the kid was winning (how quick was that?) Loris wasn't interestimg anymore.
That's 'gratitude' or 'loyalty' for ya, one year you're on top and they call you a lion,
the next you're ditched. Casey made the best of the circumstances and brought it home,
that's still a fenomenal achievement. Do you think he can he do it again?

Lucky he didn't jump on to Loris's bike then. Loris must be pissed that as the lead rider he got the crap bike!
I never realised that Stoner was so connected that Dorna changed the rules so he could win.
At least they were all on 800cc bikes unlike the first year of MotoGP when most of the field were still on old 500's. Funny how that WC is still counted in the 7!

That's only if the rider jumpes onto the best bike in the field and when there has been a significant rule change just before his second season that makes it all incomparable. In all other instances they will get full credit.
This goes for Anthony West too, if he starts winning races in 2008 he will be applauded

Considering the MotoGP Community don't expect people to be winning in their first season why do we expect Westy to be right up the front in his first half season? Give the guy a chance. I am sure it is not easy comming in half way through a season. He has been able to run with guys who have been in MotoGP for many seasons so why should he have to go if he doesn't win when others have been filling the grid for many seasons with out a win. Riders like Edwards, Hopkins etc who have had factory rides year in year out with out result.
Also when someone does win in their second season no one gives them credit and says it is all the bike/tyres. Make up your minds!

Four double championships - absolute pants! I won 7 titles with no engine and only one nadger...

West did an admirable job last year considering where he came from. He will continue to get better next year but what can't be discounted is his wet weather skills. Kawasaki know they will not win a GP under normal circumstances and will need an outside influence, like rain to win their first GP. My money is on West to do this.
