On this side of the globe the traditional lightbulb is being replaced by low energy versions,
windmills appear left and right and people are made aware of what's going on with the globe.
In this light it is completely and utterly stupid to burn a trainload of oil to hold a fancy nightrace
especially if it is to disguise that the real audience consists of ten dromedaries, a fenek and handfull of desert rats.

I think that this will make it a lot more interesting especially as Qatar is a featureless track in the middle of the desert. Also this being a night race it adds another dimension to the sport; after all we have wet a weather specialist, who says we can't have some riders who excel under lights. I also think Westies comments of the bikes looking good under lights and the spectacle of the race being held a night will bring in a wider audience which is only good for the sport in general. Personally I can't wait... Bring it on........:)

Ofcourse it matters, every amount of fossile fuel that is burnt matters,
I hope we will see bikes run on H2(O) in the furure for it means somebody at least has the courage to tackle the issue :)

Hydrogen fuel cell is the way to go you know. The only emmission is H2O. Might be about 20 years too late though.

what a load of crap do you ride a pushbike and walk so not to use fossile fuels, of course you don't use electricity, fly in a plane, and you have no plastics in your house, get real and don't watch the night race that way if no one watches they won't have it the following year

Morgue, You have gone too far this time in your ramblings. If you are green campaigner then you really should not follow motorsport. MotoGP and F1 are the complete antithesis of green issues. Burning petrol with no other good reason than discovering who is the fastest. Flying all that equipment half way around the globe. And as for those irresponsible fans buying cheap air tickets to go and watch those irrelevant races. Contributing unnecessary tons of carbon into the atmosphere and widening the hole in the ozone layer. Do us a favour, get off your soap box!

Lol :p It might also be clearer to him exactly when the red lights go out...

I agree with you JH, then you would be inhaling water vapour instead of exhaust fumes when taking a tow on the straights,
it could actually increase life expectancy for racers ;)

But seriously, there are workable hydrogen cars and even aircraft, it's not that far off, the only thing is this huge oil lobby.
The weirdest story I read some months ago was about a radiologist working on new equipment he develped for cancer treatment. He accidentaly found out it set seawater alight! The radiation split the water into H2 and O2 and the salt working
as a catalist. Imagine the possibilities, there's seawater in abundance
