You are indeed onto something there, we all know if we watch F1 & I'm also a big Ferrari Fan just how well they work with shell, the Ducati is seen in the pit lane as the Ferrari on two wheels as they do indeed have close links with shell & you know they are sharing info.

I'm not sure Morgue, Peter99, if Yamaha should stick with the Magneti Marelli control system because it's a good system, & as you say Peter99, it needs tweaking to the yamaha's liking.

It's only a matter of time before they get it right, as I have said on previous post's the Yamaha has got more power in it's gut's, they just can't utilise the damn thing because it's a bit thirsty.

Hey Morgue/Nigel, I think you are spot Morgue with Magneti Marelli having lots on info through there F1 department. But also maybe the reason why the system does not work so well with yamaha is that Duc's engine simple delivers the power different than Yam's. To me, obviously the system was designed for Duc, and Yam is using a modified version of it. Using a specific designed system and modified to meet your demands typically results in a good compromise at best.
Long term Yam (and all other manufacturer) will have to develop there own system, to get the best possible system for there needs.

Yes I am at a loss too at the fact that a big factory like Honda isn't able yet to beat the TC Ducati use,
it may have to do with the fact that the latter cuddle up close with the Ferrari factory, having heaps of experience in the field.
It is obviously not something you get right 'on the first go', it takes years to develop.

As for Edwards, he is often strong in wintertesting, only to lose out in races again...
He is very comfortable on his '07 bike and testing new tyres with it, like Pedrosa on the '07 bike they can fully concentrate on the new rubber instead of all other factors. We'll see how he goes on the '08 bike

Allthough I fail to understand why the Jap's have not come up with something to match that system, I suspect it's being worked on as we speak & for sure when it hit's the track it will be fine.

We all need not forget just how good the Japanese are at designing top notch quality products.

Did you notice how quick Colin was on the Yamaha in the last test?

I'm not sure what to read into that as he was fairly quick, I know if he was riding last years M1 & Michelins to my way of thinking there was nothing new to him there, it will be interesting to see if he is able to keep up with the top guys at the next test.

Yea I agree, i'm sure that the Ducati team are in front of the peking order when it comes to new developments with that system, I mean you would expect Yamaha to use it slightly different but in reality they are trying to acheive the same thing as Ducati so I would expect it to be very similar to the way they use it and the way it works etc.

I would expect thought that once Yamaha get some decent testing in things will improve on the traction control front & the tyre life when used in the Yamaha.

I can only assume that they continue with the Magneti Marelli control system because they like it and it works more or less the way they like it. Cont...

I agree, Yamaha should probably develop their own system instead of using the Magneti Marelli,
it is doubtfull they get the same treatment as the Ducati factory bikes.
but making their own (like Honda and Suzuki) will take time that they can't afford to lose

Another thing is Valentino has already mentioned that the yamaha spins the tyres' and is very harsh on the back tyre, he commented this just after testing the bridgestone for the first time & said that even the harder bridgestone got chewed up abit.

He know's that Yamaha must find something on the electronics side, not just for TC but also for fuel management so they can use the grunt available to them from the engine & finish the race, the 21 litre max capacity is hurting them.

I'm sure what Ducati have in their electronics TC for one is helping them no end & that's the reason they was able to finish races last year running still hot lap times.

It might just be an incident ofcourse and Stoer was very fast at the time so it will be interesting to see what tthe next test brings. I checked his website but there's nothing there on the incidents or his condition,

I don't know for sure what the pro is with stoner but seems strange when under preassure in the season no problems at all, when testing 2 crashes something is wrong surely.

It will be interesting in a months time to see if we get any pointers as to why he crashed.

Im sure he will be fine & let's face it he finished the season as champion & on a high
& I think will do little to dent his confidence.

Im looking forwards to this test & it will be interesting to see who's been doing the best job in the winter.

TC & all these gizmo's are fine untill the bugger screws up, I mean if a rider get's stuck in his ways & get's independant on this very clever technology, it's when it goes wrong when thing's like that happen.

We have rarely seen a mistake out of Stoner all season & suddenly there are 2 in 2 days when only testing.

Yes Morgue I'm with you & peter99 on this & you only need a few bad crashes & all of a sudden it can dent the confidence big time & it's similar to what happened to valentino with the michelin tyres, once you lost the confidence in a system or a component then it takes a while to rebuild the trust or maybe it just dissapears altogether, cont..
