Stoner with the #1 plate is questionable. Yes he deserves it for the truly incredible season that he had and should use it for the testing sessions, but having it for the 2008 season will make him look foolish as he will NOT win the championship, just ask Hayden.

M. The F1 cars sound amazing and you can feel the noise in you stomach. The Ferrari V12 of the early 90,s used to make your ears bleed (Ok, I'm exagerating but you know what I mean).

Technologically, they are facinating and are supposed to be at the vary pinnacle of engineering and yet the gap from 1st to 10th is huge. How can one car be so much better than the next if this is the pinnacle. I think is it the rules in F1 that has made it the dull sport it has become. I say, no wings, no fuel stops, and turbos so big they could suck a small child out of it's pram from 100metres (although this might upset a few people ;).

Hi Morgue. It's a bit of a tool isn't it?

On a slightly negative note, whilst bio fuels are a positive step in that the carbon dioxide produced by burning the fuel is negated to a certain extent by the CO2 absorbed by the plants used for bio fuels, it is still being used as feel good fuel. By using the bio fuel, we are doing our bit and that will do (the same as planting trees). Also I think that forests are being felled to make space to grow bio fuel crops which is not good.

It's a step in the right direction but not the answer (what is?)

Your right. The more people see these concepts and see how exciting it can be the more will lean toward it. The costs will reduce and we will all live happily ever after (as chinese) ;)

I love this stuff. The chinese symbol for crisis can be split into two words, disaster and opportunity. My take on this is that this is where we are now. It could go either way.

I have just tried to find a link for you but I am not as organised as you are. It's a huge virtical tube surrounded by thousands of square metres of plastic all around. As the air beneath the plastic heats it becomes less dense and therefore cooler air around the outside is drawn in. cont

This creates a constant wind which is drawn to the the centre of the plastic and into the tube where it rises (because it is warm) and spins a wind turbine inside the tube. Constant electricity. It is almost perpetual motion.

There is a working prototype near Madrid (I believe) where it is very hot and flat. I think this was actually designed by a Dutchman (I might have dreamt that bit though).

Because the plastic also acts like a green house it is possible to grow huge ammounts of crops under the plastic all year round. The condensation produced also provides water for the crops. Damn, what have I done with link (I will forward it on to you if I can find it)

Hi Morgue. This link is about jellyfish, not quite what I was getting at ;)

I wouldn't be suprised if JT won the tour de France, he is as fit as a butchers dog and pretty determind. Does the tour clash with any motogp races next year ;)

Hey Morgue, sorry for the late reply. Gas prices are different state - state, average around US$ 3.00/gallon (still less than a buck/liter) and thats in US dollars.
(typically $1.00 more in California)
I agree with jh on the bio fuel as a "feel good" energy source. Nothing but a drop of water in the ocean. The USA uses approx. 25% of world fossil fuel with approx. 4% of world population. The current bio fuel production in the States covers 0.3% of the demand (mostly for cars)and will be maxed out around 1-2% of current demand.
My opinion is, that it is currently cheaper to wage war to secure oil recources than find alternatives (all in the name of business)
It is a sad world.....

I can only hope that a new liberal goverment here in the US will have the guts to increase gas prices 3-4 fold, to force plublic thinking towards alternative resources and smaller cars (alternative fuel cars)
At the moment, its all business. As long as goverment can help secure resources to cover demand, there will be no change in public thinking.

Thanks for the link for TED by the way....
