I think people are having rather selective memories here, calling the Roberts project 'this crap' and 'a no chance, rooted to last place all the time MotoGP team?' considering KR JR beat factory rider Colin Edwards, future world champ Casey Stoner, both factory Suzuki's and a factory Ducati last season to finish 6th in the world, aswell as beating Kawasaki in the constructor and team standings.

MOTOGP » Team Roberts 'still working'

Team Roberts is 'still working' to secure the sponsorship necessary to put two riders on the 2008 MotoGP grid.

There''s still a chance for Max Biaggi, provided he''s willing to cancel his WSBK contract.

Or even Jeremy McWilliams provided he's willing to cancel his Saga holiday to Bournmouth.

Why would Biaggi leave a possible WSBK title winning or at least being in contention for the WSBK title to join a no chance, rooted to last place all the time MotoGP team?

Yeh... Biaggi on a Roberts bike... on the paper Max is maybe
one of the riders that can get something out of this crap, but he is not the
type that override a bad bike. The Roberts project is really an expansive
joke. A killer rider on a WSBK bike will go faster, so Max could do better
on the GSX1000R at the MotoGP than on the Roberts bike, no matter what
engine they put inside. Over the last years the Roberts bikes have been
nothing more than back markers. It will be a shame not seeing King Kenny
around, but I'll not miss his bikes.

Is/was it true as I was led to believe that Team Roberts WERE NOT allowed to tune the engine and had to rely on the Chassis to get any benefit that in reality led them to be a backmarker from the off last season?
Lets hope they do get a Desmo from Ducati with Kenny in the saddle as it would be good to see just what an Ace like Kenny could squeeze out of it? If he had a Duke and failed to get anything worthwhile it would prove Casey as god or if Kenny could get anything would prove that he is just extremly good ;)
Anything that gets another team onto the grid is good for MotoGp as it seems tha WsbK is going to field almost everyone else.

I think talking about which riders TeamKR should choose is missing the point. TeamKR have no money and no budget to go racing with. There are very few sponsors / investors who want to put money into MotoGP. Ilmor could not attract a single sponsor last year and had to pull the plug. Also if you where a potential investor / sponsor would you wish to be associated with a team that runs at the back of the pack? The future is very bleak for satellite teams.

Biaggi riding for KR?
Let me tell you a true story, A couple of years ago when Biaggi fell out with Honda, he was in talks with KR to race their bike, honda heard about it and offered KR their engines if they did not sign Biaggi.
Once the deal was done honda lost all interest in the engines and Team KR fell further back behind all the other honda bikes, Maybe KR should tell honda he will sign Biaggi unless he gets the latest engines! :D
