MOTOGP » Vermeulen delighted with new number

As previously reported, Rizla Suzuki's Chris Vermeulen will run a new number on the front of his GSV-R in 2008, having acquired the number seven made famous by Barry Sheene.

A wonderful gesture from Vermeulen to pay tribute to his mentor and the greatest British motorcycle racer of the modern era. I also agree that if he can sort his qualifying issues out and get up to speed a tad quicker in the race then he could suprise a few people and perhaps be a title contender. Could be worth a cheeky punt as an outsider, depends on what Suzuki come up with.

Good on him. I'd like to see him sort out his front end problem so he has everything he needs when it comes time to turn his bike in the corners, Then I think that would go a long way to helping his qualifying. I wonder if when Chris wins a WC it will be as polorising as Casey's WC?????

It would be fun if Chris wins more races and even a WC as Hooligan always claimed it would be him to do it for Suzuki.

GO CHRIS.

Sheene had little or no competition until King Kenny came along then we saw his true ability, bags of character though

And his acting in Silver Dream Racer was 'SHOCKING' especially the scene where he and Daphne are reflecting upon the death of a fellow competitor, that was embarrassing to watch
