ratty, you say 'I don't get how you can say he will amount to nothing on your basis of "ex wsb rider" simple... let's have a look at some of the past sbk riders that have made it into motogp... Bayliss, Edwards, Foggy, Haga, Xaus, Lacone, Byrne, Hodgson, Pitt, Ellison to name a few none of which contended for the title just made up the numbers (or still do) and moved on.

I never said I don't want him to succeed or do well, I think he is a very talented rider BUT if you look at history it really doesn't look positive for him.

tankmax46,

You make me laugh with your attitude. The season has not even started and you have already written JT off simply on the basis that he is an ex wsb rider. I am well aware people have differing opinions. If we all liked the same thing, the world would be pretty crap.

I don't get how you can say he will amount to nothing on your basis of "ex wsb rider"

Everyone is different. I for 1, am hoping he succeeds. Just like you are hoping Rossi doesn't have the nightmare that was last season.

Ratty, I'm not slagging anyone off just looking back on past wsbk riders and champions who have made it into motogp only to make up the numbers and never contend for the title.

How do I make you laugh exactly?? Because I don't share your views on JT I'm funny or perhaps Rossi's 7 world titles make you laugh...

I think in recent years, the Brit have failed not because they are Brits but because they are not good enough. You only have to look at BSB. Every year a Jonathan Foreigner wins. However, I think James is the best of our current crop and he is a little different. He wants to win, he is a tenacious little terrier and a natural talent. Go JT!!

Morgue,
Appreciate exactly what you are saying, BUT, it really rubs me the wrong way when people slate the Brit who has made it to the GP. I'm not saying he is the best rider in the world. He is however the World Superbike Champ for the 2nd time. That says a lot to me. I have pictures in my house of JT from when he was riding for Winston all those years ago.
I will personally be happy if he is in top 10 this year. 2009 top 5. 2010...... well, lets wait and see. Everyone thinks cos he is a Brit, he will automatically fail, and if I'm honest, that really pee's me off. As long as Yamaha do their bit and give him a bike that works, I think we will see something quite brilliant. Go JT.....

Oh dear tankmax46,

I'm guessing another rossi fan with nothing better to do than slag off the other riders. If I were you, I'd be more interested in how JT was only .3 of a second behind rossi. And JT being a rookie who will do nothing. People like you make me laugh.
I can't wait for the Philip Island test. A track that JT knows well. C'mon JT. Do us all proud.

1.32.198 was his superpole lap. Over 22 laps his average time was 1.55.318 for race 1, and 1.55.136 for race 2.
Sorry to be picky slow joe. I.ve just spent 10 minutes working that out. Had to post it.
