since we are going down memory lane and everyone is so keen to bash Nicky, i seem to remember the angry smurf had his fair share of problem with the "pedrosa bike" as well. And the ONLY reason he took second was because Rossi had engine problems at Valencia not because he was such a talented rider.

Not to mention he had his fair share of crashes and poor decisions. So for a guy with such talent on a bike specifically designed & developed for him, he definitely screwed the pooch.

If Nicky had the proper bike, and support from Honda he would have EASILY been in the top 5. if not the top 3.

No matter how much you hate on Nicky, he STILL better then 3/4 of the current riders.

GO NICKY!!!

MOTOGP » Hayden fast but frustrated

Nicky Hayden once again indicated that the new Honda RC212V is as good as anything - with the notable exception of Casey Stoner - on qualifying tyres, by leaving Phillip Island with the second fastest lap time.

I believe a Factory would actually intentionally slow its 2nd, 3rd, 4th rider down just so that all points will be accumulated by one rider in their team so that they win the championship. example. What if Ducatti actully doesn't want loris capirossi to share the lead points with stoner and slowed down his bike by adjusting the nozzles or something else. Is it possible. We keep seeing it last year that Capirossi cold catch up, This year we will see Marco Melandri doing that. Like team orders. We never see it with Dani and Nicky because they were fighting it out. If loris capirossi had shared the points between stoner Dani Pedrosa would have been Firts in the Championship. Yeah

Don't start it again.Please,

Dany IS a talented rider.
Nicky IS a talented rider.

They BOTH know how to set-up a bike with their TEAM.

So don't forget, its also the TEAM behind them that should be able to ask the right questions AND interpret correctly the feedback their riders give for them to get optimal performance in the end.

HRC develops the "Honda" lawnmower. Needs to be reliable. Michelin?

In the end ALL involved are responsible if it goes well OR goes down the drain...

Jeremy Burgess, Yamaha Factory, Superb mechanics, DocR will make the best of a situation.
At Ducati its the same. The Duc-team understands Stoner

And in the end:

Everybody is happy :)

Quoting Ducman1098R earlier comments "since we are going down memory lane and everyone is so keen to bash Nicky, i seem to remember the angry smurf had his fair share of problem with the "pedrosa bike" as well. I think it was for the same reasons that Lucky Nicky Hayden won the Championship in 2006. The only reason he took first was because Rossi had engine problems that year not because he was a talented rider.

Ducman1098 you crack me up. Goooooo rossi

Bottom line is theres only "1" JB and he is the only cheif in the pits with as many titles to his name.... if "JB" was the chief at HRC today Dani and Nicky would of be fighting over #1 and #2 position this year no doubt.

Yamaha today??? well thats another story, probably dumb *** ego's/politics/$$ and "too many chiefs! and not enough indians"

A big company still depends on its engineers. Do NOT confound "BIG" with "BEST". ;)

You just need a few superb engineers that can do their work in a good working environment. If you don't have the right "grey matter" and "experience" you can throw millions at something and not produce "the best".

Who do you think work at Ducati? or Ferrari? These factories have to invest a huge part of their returns in development compared to Honda but its not only the MONEY, its the PEOPLE that finally have to develop the bike or the car.

Ace could be right, HRC might just be lacking the "old foxes" with feeling, passion and their heart at the right place...

Honda just cooks with water too ;)

How can one rider be expected to evaluate a chassis, two different engine configurations, then conduct tyre evaluation all in a few days of allocated testing without ending up running around in circles. This may be the real reason Ducati is so competitive because they have done most of the work before they even see the test track. This also begs the question how effective a development program is when it involves and outsourced factory team such as the Repsol Honda outfit and many others. Quite simply some of these MotoGP teams will still be developing their packages rather than refining them at the last round of this coming season. Ducati with their in house operation is the benchmark here.
