since we are going down memory lane and everyone is so keen to bash Nicky, i seem to remember the angry smurf had his fair share of problem with the "pedrosa bike" as well. And the ONLY reason he took second was because Rossi had engine problems at Valencia not because he was such a talented rider.

Not to mention he had his fair share of crashes and poor decisions. So for a guy with such talent on a bike specifically designed & developed for him, he definitely screwed the pooch.

If Nicky had the proper bike, and support from Honda he would have EASILY been in the top 5. if not the top 3.

No matter how much you hate on Nicky, he STILL better then 3/4 of the current riders.

GO NICKY!!!

MOTOGP » Hayden fast but frustrated

Nicky Hayden once again indicated that the new Honda RC212V is as good as anything - with the notable exception of Casey Stoner - on qualifying tyres, by leaving Phillip Island with the second fastest lap time.

I'm English and never been a Haydon fan but week in week out whether racing or testing he is there giving everything, doing it and doing it.
2006 he was world champion no one should say Rossi lost it because Haydon won it fact.
He will be there in the mix for the near future.
I'm not a fan of the US of A so no bashing this guy is there.

I disagree with Ducman1098R comments that Nicky will be top 3 with proper bike support. Well if all the rest of the field had proper bike support rossi would be first. Its his yankee attitute. I bet you he will follow in the footsteps of Kenny Roberts Junior. He does put in his effort of riding 120 laps after the race thats because he loves to ride alone like he owns the track. Races dont go for 120 laps. Usually they are about 30 laps at the max. Maybe the leman's 24 hour races. You are finished if you dont get familiar with the track within the first 5 laps than you catch up. Look at schumacher he will wait until the last 3 minits to do his trials. same with Casey Stoner

Ducman1098R saying that he still beat 3/4 of them. I dont think so. there was a field of 26 so 8th would be more like 2/3s. Anyway rossi was champion and he came in second but look at the trashing rossi got from the casey stoner fans. Nicky hayden should start with the 250cc class and work himself up. Thats my opinion. Sorry dudes. he will be plated 11th end of this season. The 250cc promoted's are gonna nail him. especially lorenzo

Saran.

His "yankee attitude" is world famous for being a positive one. Nowhere in the rest of your idiotic rant did you show an ounce of intelligent thought regarding MotoGP. You only illustrated that you have never raced personally and secondly, you haven't the slighest clue about what is necessary for an ideal setup. Especially on a new bike when your teammate who is the only other person on the same bike is down. You know nothing of Shumy or Stoner either. Wait for the last 3 minutes? You mean like EVERY rider in grand prix racing at the end of a qualifying session?

Yankee attitude, he says! That sums up your post. Go to a political forum, douche!

Saran, you need to stop sniffing race fuel. Sure, Valentino had his problems that year but he also had Colin helping develop the bike and watching his back all season. Nicky had to develop the bike on his own, tolerated his own teammate taking him out, rode with a fractured shoulder and Honda flat out said publicly that they couldn't give him a clutch that worked. He earned that title. No doubt. He's still the dude that took the crown from Rossi against all odds. And Valentino is no chimp. ;)

Nicky is a cool dude and one hell of a racer and earned his wc the hard way. Anyone who goes into the last race, 8 points down with Rossi on pole and walks away with the #1 plate deserves maximum respect. All this ******** about being lucky, Rossi had his chance and folded faster than a chinese laundrette.

It hardly seems worth it, seeing as though everyone else has got there already, but... Saran, your opinion of Nicky is about as far off the mark as Michelin's offerings at the beginning of last season. Worse, actually - Michelin weren't completely and utterly clueless.
