Monkey Boy, Rossi was obliged to say so: Michelin is providing tyres to the 'factory' Yamahas ridden by 2007 250cc world champion Jorge Lorenzo, and 4 times WSB champions Colin Edwards and James Toseland, and nevertheless when Yamaha sends a test team in the fray, both riders ride Bridgestones...

Michelin and their three Yamaha riders are probably mad, that's why Rossi tries to scale down the importance of that test team. I do not believe there is any arrogance there.

Very interesting too Brivio's comment about using Bridgestones more convenient for the Yamaha Test Team because Michelin tyres are to be sent over from France...

In fact Rossi has succeeded in becoming the one and only 100% factory rider with full support of Yamaha AND Bridgestone, with the help of the whole Yamaha MotoGP factory team, which is based in ... Italy.

Pitt used a road bike in order to get around the test ban, that prevents 'motogp testing' at a circuit just before the race takes place. By using a road bike/motogp tyres michelin were still able to get good data. I think that loophole has now been closed.

but Pitt was a michelin test rider anyway, not an official yamaha test team rider.

The official Yamaha test team always uses M1s. All the official factory motogp test riders (Jacque, Canapa, Aoki, okada etc) all use motogp bikes otherwise there's no point.
