#2 means "i beat rossi"... he's rubbing vale's face in it.

the story is ridiculous tho. you don't put the number of wins on your plate. you put the # of the position you finished in.

otherwise stoner would be #10

MOTOGP » Pedrosa becomes number two

Dani Pedrosa will drop the #26 and ride with the #2 on the front of his Repsol Honda for the 2008 MotoGP season. Pedrosa finished second in the 2007 world championship, with two race wins, and - according to a statement from the team - has made the number change as part of a tradition 'which dictates that a rider bears the number that reflects the victories obtained during the previous twelve months'.

That number 2 story doesn''t fit to him.Can you imagine MiniDani wearing the nr2 when Nicky had the "1" only because he would have won 2 races the year before?

Come on JT !

Looking at testing so far this year, I think Ducati have the complete package again and Stoner is going to be hard to beat...

Hope it''s going to be a good fight though

Getting criticized and having every minute part of your career discussed is part of being a professional sportsman. He better get used to it :)

He still hasn't persuaded me as a rider. He is blisteringly fast on occasion but his braking is lacking and his general attitude is boring. I'm really glad we have all this young hot blood in, Lorenzo, De Angelis and Dovizioso, those guys were insane on the 250s :-o

I think it is an interesting move by Pedrosa and in keeping with motorsport tradition.
It is completely his right to do this and alo shows that he is not ashamed of being second in on of the most difficult and hardfought championships in the world and besides that isn't supersitious.

What I read from his reactions it looks like Stoner had the use of the #1 late this year forced upon him (by Ducati?),
he seemed very reluctant to decide about it. Let's see what it brings him in 2008 ;)
