MOTOGP » Stoner's night dream, Rossi's nightmare

The two leading Bridgestone riders, and world championship favourites, suffered very differed fortunes during MotoGP's first ever night race at Qatar on Sunday.

Kees,

I agree. I guess that's not getting enough attention. In Qatar, certainly seen the set-up/tire problem, Rossi did well.

Rob,

I don't predict. I just hope that everyone gets a fair chance and we get to see a historic and exiting race.

So, Rob, did you have look at the tires or not?

( put them in the adress bar and look at the rear tires)

Harryx I think that (due pressure) Vale and Jeremy gambled (and lost) on the wrong set of tyres wich they clearly hadn't test on so many laps.. Otherwise there was no reason for mounting them don't you think?? We underestimate the pressure to score some good results, it was clearly that during the FP1 and FP2 he hadn't found the best settings so in order to score they gambled and lost...(offcourse these are my thoughts)

I believe Valentino will struggle again with tire wear issues as he did last year , he is tearing the rubber up with his riding style on the 800 and changing brands wasn't the answer for him, he has to adapt to the 800's

For sure he was the rider of the early 2000's on 990's and probably would have won in 07 but for some bad luck and bike reliability.

Just my thoughts

Cheers.

what is your prediction for jerez Harry ?

To your credit you are at least not slagging off all Stoner fans and Aussies as much as you did.

As for my contribution, I predict that the young guns will take points off Rossi all year while Stoner collects his second championship with more points than 07.

My reasons are that Ducati/Stoner/Bridgestone have data for all tracks this year, the Ducati has only evolved ( better), Edwards is the only Yamaha rider with stability IE same tires etc,Honda clearly don't have their act together and forget about Suzuki and kawasaki,It's the first year in MotoGP for Lorenzo/Dovi/Toseland.

Rob, did you at least see the tires?

If you did, with your expertise on the subject, you probably thought:

"It's black & it's round mmmh, what does this picture tell me more? Nothing really. A red bike was in front, that's all there is to know. The rest is again looking for excuses".

For you guys ANYTHING I write will be labeled "excuse" by default. Don't worry I get used to it.

Anything else to contribute?

So, what is your prediction for jerez Harry ?

Will Valentino and jeremy be able to set the bike up after what, 7 years in the premier class for VR and 11 for Jeremy ?

And will you be here to give excuses etc after the race ?

Cheers.

There is no excuse.

It is just anti-blah to consider a completely destroyed tire a "detail" which does not affect a racers chances in a race.

Rossi's Yamaha was poorly set-up (to soft?); at least not good for the race distance: that is a fact. Why the tire was already shot in SO little laps is bit of a mystery considering the number of testing days that were available.

I guess Jeremy and his team know by now what the problem must have been, and B-stone are certainly involved to why this and why that. It's in their interest to NOT show another destroyed tire from Japan on a Top Yamaha with a Top rider...

By the way: I guess you could bet on all 3 riders.
