I don't understand why tv race directors don't use picture in picture. The battle for fifth was the best action of the race yet the last few corners on the last lap were missed because they cut to Pedrosa crossing the line, and then stayed with that shot to watch second to fourth cross the line. Why couldn't they have a picture in the corner of the tv screen to see the leader/s cross the line and keep the main picture for the battle - wherever that might be on the track.

MOTOGP » Capirossi v Toseland v Hopkins v Dovizioso

Four riders entered the final turn of the Spanish Grand Prix with a chance of taking fifth position, but it was the oldest - and perhaps wisest - of them all, Loris Capirossi, who emerged in front.

After first laps of Rossi, only the excitement was there!...Brave moves and competitive race but a big TV fault by showing them not much???

Anyway,

Toseland and Dovizioso are the new colors for entertainment of MotoGP!...

WellDone for all riders above and my hat off for them!...

190mph,

I think that is a brilliant idea. If someone on here has anything to do with dorna or eurosport, they should talk to them about it.
All in all, it was a great result for JT, considering how he was felling. I'm just ecstatic that jorge didn't win.

Hey guys, picture in picture would be great, but I think that it is a feature of particular TV's rather than one that Dorna can offer, unless you don't want the option of chosing the pictures. I guess then it is possible. But imagine the different sizes of screens that people watch on. Picture in Picture is great on a huge screen, but if you're watching on a small screen, maybe not so good.

The picture in picture thing is great. I'm lucky enough to live in mallorca and when i watch the races on Spanish TV, rather than eurosport they put the race in the top left hand side while the adverts are on. Ok not the largest picture in the world but you can see whats happening.

Plus this site is great but some guy's need to enjoy the racing more and worry less about flaming each other.

right off to thrash my moto crosser and relieve the days aggression. :)

Generally, the problem is generated in all motor sports by the TV directors!...

All the above guys are appreciated by great performance!...What a pity we could not follow mostly this competition on screen!...

The picture in a picture idea is so spot on. My refinement is that the smaller picture should be the rider crossing the line for victory and the larger picture should show the actual racing - last lap battles are usually both intense and undocumented. The worst TV coverage of racing ever was the pictures from Rio 99 when the cameras showed Criville wobbling round in 6th for the championship almost entirely missing a mammoth scrap between Max, Norick and Kenny. Thanks 190mph, the racing is not over just because someone wins.

Wow, thanks for the postive responce people, it just makes sensce dosen't it, we all want to see race action whether it's a battle for the lead or elsewhere. Calvin - picture in picture is not tv set specific as the BBC use it when they interview people in the pitlane when qualifying or racing is commencing. Sam - i agree this should be used in all motorsports - F1 being just as bad.

To follow up the action is a problem for all sports. So sometimes after a goal TV cameras show only supporters instead of goal kicker?

Anyway before being a sport TV director they should get some lessons about which activity has primary?

Generally they show us front row without any action and it makes us sleepy. If they care other groups at the back for a while, most of our comments will have depth!...
