I must say I am shocked I didn't think anyone watched the BBC coverage
when Eurosport gives better, more comprehensive & defiantly more entertaining coverage
As a rule I do support the BBC but in this case the coverage isn't in the same league as eurosport's

I watch the build up on the BBC and the post race as I find Toby Moody unbearable other than during the race, also the Beeb do different features for each race such as the hayden interview last time. Its also better in that actually get to see the riders being interviewed by Suzy Perry on the start grid which makes it more personable than just having Randy speaking over pictures that are not of whom he is interviewing. Also switch to the beeb during ad breaks on eurosport which always seem to have the nasty habit to occur when something really interesting is happening

no offence to yourself phill, but, i find the BBC coverage is better. i tend to watch the build up on eurosport but switch to the BBC for the races. mainly because Toby Moody's wailing makes my ears ring and there are no crap european adverts for Givi panniers and german beer. one thing is for sure though, its nice to have a choice to suit you're prefference, whatever it is

I must admit Prolific, I do exactly the same thing! But not cos I find Toby Moody unbearable, only because you get a better warm-up to the GP. It's nice to see behind
the scenes the way the BBC do things with their interviews and articles. Also, the grid
interviews are better as you say when you can actually *see* the person involved. Why can't Eurosport give Randy a cameraman? They do that for the Le Mans pit interviews...

I'd like to know the viewing figures for the 125 and 250 races. I'm sure, like me everyone here will watch anything that has an engine and two wheels but when it comes to global viewing how many just tune in to Rossi show? If as I suspect the figures are dire (except in Italy and Spain where most of the riders are from these countries), then this might be proof that the major manufacturers are behind the prospected upgrade to 600s. Similarly how many watch SS racing, preferring to watch WSB? The 600 class is just not getting the exposure required by Honda et al to sell more and more 600 sports bikes. Just a theory.

another good thing about terrestrial channels (BBC) showing any sport,is that it brings the sport to more people. there are lots of people out there that dont have digital/satellite tv. so it opens it up to a lager audience, with added effect of people the used to watch it (but lost the choice with the advent of satellite tv) are now coming back. also, the more people watch it on tv, the more people that are likely to go to the races too. the beeb do seem to putting some real effort into showing the races and trying to promote it, probably due to the monopoly of sky and setanta buying out many of the mainstream sports. competition between channels can only mean better quality coverage

Hey biz360 no offence taken
On Eurosport I get all 3 races & to me the 125 & 250 are just as important as the big class
& this one is a personal thing but as a commentator I recon Steve Parish is a good racer!
I don't know why he just gets on my wick
I also agree with you that getting the sport to the widest audience possible can only be a good thing
But being the pessimist I am, I expect the BBC to drop it like a hot stone once there are no Brits in the one class they cover

I can't believe anyone with Sky TV put's up with Charlie Cox :) I liked him as a driver, but I can't stand his commentating. I do like Parish though, but he can get on my nerves sometimes. Generally I watch the build up on BBC then switch to Eurosport for the race.

But to generalize I tend to find BBC commentates for lowest common denominate where as you get much more insight and technical info on Eurosport.

Either way between BBC and Eurosport viewing in the UK must be nearing 2 million viewers which is the main thing. I always thought if we could just get a home rider in their performing well the viewing figures would start to increase.

I just hope BBC doesn't shun MotoGP in preference to F1 next year. One's popularity is on the rise the others is arguable in decline...

Still between 3 channels they have more than enough air time to cover both on clashing weekends.
