Marc(not that Marc) the Honda was designed around Jockey Boy. Nicky (being an average sized adult)has stated more than once he's simply not comfortable on it. I hope for his sake he gets an opportunity to ride for a manufacturer willing to design a bike for a former World Champion and not his halfwit gnome teammate who almost cost him that championship.
Until the governing body imposes a minimum weight for bike and rider it's no wonder Pedrosa is winning.

MOTOGP » Hayden gets pneumatic for Donington!

HRC had said it was unlikely to be ready in time, but Nicky Hayden will make his pneumatic-valve grand prix debut at Donington Park.

Just as the story said, Nicky has nothing to lose, he has been out paced by his team mate and has little chance of winning the championship, I wonder what will happen if he wins, maybe honda will take the bike off him and give it to Dani who has a far better chance of winning the championship

Looks like heavy rain this weekend so maybe pneumatics won't make much difference in this case. Nicky may need the electron just to stay on the thing :-o

@ Chu Chu
"but where would yamaha be, or the others, if they were still running springers?"

Toseland and Edwards began the year with a valve-spring engine, but were handed Yamaha's powerful pneumatic-valve design - as used by the factory team - from round three at Estoril.

IMO they would not have all 4 Yamaha Bikes in the Top 7 positions. The factory teams could have been 1st and 2nd.

1. Valentino Rossi Fiat Yamaha Team 142
2. Dani Pedrosa Repsol Honda Team 135
3. Jorge Lorenzo Fiat Yamaha Team 94
4. Casey Stoner Ducati Marlboro Team 92
5. Colin Edwards Tech 3 Yamaha 69
6. Andrea Dovizioso JiR Team Scot MotoGP 57
7. James Toseland Tech 3 Yamaha 53

Its amazing that Honda got it so wrong from such an early stage, they havn't had such an uninspiring engineering developement in racing since the 80's probably, when they experimented with oval pistons, underslung fuel tanks and over-engine exhausts,Nicky really has nothing to lose,Honda too if they thought about it but any public failing would be of great embarrassment to them

edward:
The engine is different, haven't seen it, but the shape of the heads and the way it mounts to the frame is likely different... think about what it would take to mount a new engine in the frame of your street bike. That's why it matters.

The rain would *wash out* much difference any 1k rpm, or hp increase might provide to the bike since the tyres couldn't get the power to the track.

Good luck Honda, you'll need it.

It would seem Honda have BIG problems as the F1 teams is frankly a joke, they are behind in development (something I thought I would NEVER say about Honda) in MotoGP, in WSBK they are all but struggling with the bikes.

Not really like them.

Is this a case of too many fingers in too many pies ?
