"Some of you guys couldn't be more wrong. The closeness is because everybody is opening the throttle full, on full power almost at the same time and the electronics do the rest. There is not a lot a rider can add to this other than more power and electronics..In the 990 era this would send you straight to hospital without passing go. In the 990s'it meant that a rider with the most skill could use more of the power available becuase they were only close to the maximum on the straights..."

Ducati patati, if this is the case,[contrary to most posts here] then Nicky Hayden IMO is a top 3 talent. If it is true, then it is very sad that true rider talent cannot be shown anymore

I agree also.... Most of the posters on here are Casey fans who can only agree with Casey is the best ever and his bike is crap. If you read interviews with 990 riders they will tell that the power was backed off and it was the one who could use it most sweetly that had the advantage(the 500s more so with a ridiculously primitive TC) there was certainly no full throttle unless you were vertical or you were thrown down the road.. as for TC to compare todays product with yesteryears is plain foolish....those who don't agree need to watch it and not just make stuff up :p

i can understand the the rejection of the use of traction control, but to the point of twist throttle and go? if it were that simple these guys must be crap - they keep coming off. i know it has an influence, but booing a rider on the podium for winning? if you're that against utilizing technology available then throw your pc out the window now.

So how come there are so many crashes?
The 800cc bikes are dangerous imho.
I can remember Valentino on the honda 990
full antilock on the steering coming out of a medium speed corner
with the motor grunting on and off like a tractor engine.
It was unnatural but way good.
The 800 would have blown past him mid corner though,
so credit where it is due and the 800's bite hard when
they go wrong, like the 500's but faster,

kind regards

ricky
