i've watched the race again because it was fantastic...but all the passes that rossi made especially on the top of the corkscrew was unbelievable and i think stoner didn't expect to be passed there....before the race start stoner was ask if he has any doubts that he will win and he said "none"....he was to confident and he didn't realise that rossi could prove to be a menace after the five pole position he got & 4 race that he won......this prove that if u have the faster bike doesn't necesary means that u can always win....

Rossi didnt cut across Stoners path to impede him. He crossed Stoners path to save himself from hitting the tarmac.

What would people have said if Rossi had lost control of the bike in the gravel on the corkscrew and his bike went careering into Stoner, knocking him flying? Dangerous riding?!!!

What a load of nonsense!....he made one mistake going into the corkscrew, nothing else he did was either unfair or a hard move. Stoner just isn't used to that kind of racing, he's the new generation...he should go watch some MGP racing from the 80's and 90's.

rossi showed why he is the favorit rider and why hayden said @ sachsenring 2004, HE is really the last one you want behind you. and that mistake in the corkscrew wasnt that bad and rossi knew what he did, he was @ the inside of the corner so if he had hit stoner it whould be like jerez 2005 with gibernau.

but WHAT A AMAZING race i didnt care who whould win it was a awsome battle between 2legends.

Stoner, stop crying and start racing, maybe you forgot Estoril this year where you almost knocked yourself out and i believe Nagano and Toseland (Vermeueln)as well in 1 corner to overtake them.

Burgess has nothing to defend because Rossi did nothing wrong......

can you name one rider that has been penalised for this sort of riding? This was close racing by both riders, the moment in the corkscrew was not intended, a miscalculation from Rossi. This was the only moment from which I could understand Stoner would be a bit unhappy, but it does not qualify for a penalty. Anyway, Rossi can't get away with more things than others, he's had more penalty's in Motogp than quite a few other racers.

Can people please stop all the bashing of riders on this site and just enjoy great racing as we've seen this weekend by both Rossi and Stoner.

Watching a re-run of the race last night, I wonder if at the time, Stoner was even aware that Rossi had to go off road when he passed him "unsportingly". He might have a different opinion now he's had a chance to see a video of the race.

They are both extremely talnted RIDERS.

Rossi however is also a sublimely talented RACER.
One ofthe biggest weapons in his amoury is his tactical racecraft.....
Underpowered bike, tyre conservation, top speed deficite, it doesn't matter what the problem appearsto be, Dr Rossi manages to conjure some magical potion from his Dr's bag to deal with the condition.

In terms of racing mentality, Rossi is a man, and Stoner is still a callow youth.
Rossi also has charisma, character, an engaging personality, and a full appreciation of what spectators enjoy because he is still an enthusiast himself.

Thats just it, Rossi didn't really make up the deficit. When Casey ran wide on lap 9, or whenever it was, he dropped over a second to Rossi. He made that up in less than 2 laps.

My point is that he kept Casey behind, purely due to the extreme difficulty of overtaking at Laguna, and ragged edge blocking/block passing.

I still give alot of credit to Rossi for his performance though, so don't construe my words as 'anti-Rossi'. I have the utmost respect for the guy and his ability.

All I'm saying is that no-one should be fooling themselves into thinking Rossi was really on Stoners pace. He'll go into the summer break relieved to have won, but still somewhat concerned.

I never said he cut across Casey to impede him! My point was exactly what you said. He was outta control and had to cut across to save himself. What a dumbass you are Sugden, you basically incriminated him yourself, trying to defend him.

If that's what happens, you lose the bike in such a way that you have no choice where the bike goes but to end up in the path of a competitor as you skew back on track, you've pushed way too far.

And if Casey isn't allowed to protest nearly being taken out of a race, then there's something wrong with this 'Rossi lovin' world.
