Just read elsewhere "A deal between Kawasaki and Spanish team owner Jorge Martinez is close to being finalised with current Alice Ducati rider Elias a leading contender." It said Bautista wants to stop with 250cc next season.

Why a sponsor would want to waste their money on Kawasaki fails me. They need to build better bikes first (in MotoGP and WSB)

MOTOGP » No approach for third Kawasaki

If a third Kawasaki is to appear on the 2009 MotoGP grid, talks will need to begin soon.

this doesn't make sense anymore, silly season in full swing. spanish media writes that aspar himself allegedly said to be in talks with kawa and hopes to announce something official before misano. and as pointed out before, english and german papers even wrote already that bautista will get the bike (although both quote the same source which was probably jumping to conclusions a little too early).

it would be nice if crash.net named the mysterious source at kawasaki. who gave that update? bartholemy? a mechanic? the cook?

Kawasaki has to be managed by a professional team, Bartholemy isn't the right person at all as he isnt able tochoice the right mechanics / technicians. Spending money from KAWA is really easy but making the right choice....is another problem.
If Kawasaki want to win, somewhere, including sbk, they need a real team manager and team for reaching this goal !

Marco Melandri has already confirmed to motogp.com that he'll be riding for Kawasaki next year, so in terms of the Bautista news, I con only wonder what that would mean for Kawasaki. I'm assuming Hopkins has a contract for next year anyway.

MCN just reported that a 3rd ZXRR is very likely to be given to Jorge Martinez and that Elias will be riding it in 2009. They also said that Westy is officially out and Kawasaki is looking to put him in a WSBK or WSS seat in 2009.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Westy in Chris Walkers old WSS seat. So its official Wests Motogp career is over.
