Casey won in Phillip Island only because rossi wasn´t close enough to him in the grid, if rossi was there from the beginning stoner wouldn't win that race.
Everybody knows it, casey too.

what fromage also always conviniently forgets when praising Stoner (and Stoner is good)that he was on a bike light years ahead of any other bike, with superior rubber on it (BS)
Throw that into the equation and it paints a little different picture. Casy 07 was stunning, but so was his bike. Rossi had to fight with absolute underpowered bike, and crapy Michelins..08 is a better reflection of rider skills..

@fromage

Having read your posts you clearly come across as a man who cannot accept the fact that Stoner cannot yet be compared with Rossi. You offer praise to Rossi and then proceed to put the 'but' line in and site Stoners one title (achieved with a massive advantage). Stoner has been undone by Rossi and will now face further dismantling from Lorenzo, Dovi etc aswell as Rossi. Stoner will not win another WC the man/boy is too fragile. He will unravel like a cheap watch. Bring on the Stoner fan boys for some groundless arguments, and berating of my comments. Signed a seasoned 500/motogp watcher.

Fromage 'Ole Chap' with age you must be having a moment of brain lag. Stoner record in 2007 was for 18 races for that season. Rossi in 2004 won the WC on new bike (Yamaha)with 16 races and followed up with an unbreakable record 2005 season. Let the record speak for itself.

2005.MotoGP Yamaha..17..11..16...367.1st..1

What's even more astonishing is that 2005 season at Motegi, he crashed and thus got no points.
Fromage 'Ole Chap' I know Stoner's record in 2007, it's just that it is not remarkable and worth remembering since someone else did better before with less races and they might do better than it this year. Seem like you always want to pick a fight with me when I gloat for VR.

The record that Rossi and Stoner jointly hold of most points in a season is an interesting one. 367 is a massive achievement, but just bear in mind that in 2005, Rossi achieved that total with only 17 races, not the 18 which Stoner had last season. Small deatail,but...

Rossi, you deserve this years championship the most. Your hard fought battle from last year clearly shows that you never give up! Go #46! :D

now that the moaner lost the title. all of a sudden some of moaner fanboys start to preach to Rossi fanboys as if they (moaner fanboys) are the mature group(ies).

for example, this fromage.

sigh...

no wonder indeed, as their idol is a hypocrite one, so are them.

Good luck and good riding to Rossi - it's been his year, great to see him back at the top. However, all you Stoner haters, remember that Rossi is riding to beat a points record shared with Stoner, who took a bike he had not ridden before and that had not won a WC to equal the points won by a guy who was riding a bike he HAD ridden for a season. Rossi rates Stoner as his best competition ever, but I guess those who cannot accept his rating just know a whole lot more than he does.

I for one can't wait to see or read how the 2009 Yamaha M1 will perform. There is supposed to be a two-day test session after the season's final race in Valencia.

I won't be a bit suprised if Rossi beats Stoner records he set last year.

Stoner 2007 podiums = 14 and 367 points and 10 - 1st place
Rossi 2008 podiums = 14 and 332 points and 8 - 1st place

Two more races to go.

Naveen, I think you are right. I think Hayden will be more impressive on the Duc as I think due to is rather erratic handling nature it will lend itself to a larger rider plus the Bridgestones so I think he could be a dark horse next season, then as you say Stoner, Dovi (once again on BS's), Pedrosa (with the extra pressure from Puig which I don't think he wanted) and of course Rossi. If he wins the next two WC's (big ask) he will then match Ago, who's 8 WC are not worth the paper they are written on. Shaping up nicely.
