Anybody who knows anything about Ant West, will know what a top 250 & WSS rider he is, especially after his performances in WSS.

Shame it didn't really work out for him, i suppose Kawasaki blew their budget on getting Hopkins onboard and the development Hopkins was doing didn't suit Westies style.

Anyway he's probably best out of it, as with any racer you have to enjoy what you are doing and i can't see him enjoying 2008 much.

But he is an hard working rider, despite all his problems you didn't seeing blubbing his top lip like some so called professional riders this year, WSS have gained a top 3 contender for the championship for next year...good luck to him.

Ray Van - the development work Hopkins was doing didn't suit HIS style either. The Kawasaki team, and factory, have long practiced "shooting the messenger" since they debuted in 2002. They have NEVER listened to any of the riders, and the problems with the bikes over the years has always been the same. A very aggressive power band, and poor rear end traction. The new tyres didn't advantage the Kawasaki as much as the Suzuki: based on todays test times, so it looks like a more fundamental problem than just tyres. Good luck next year to Westy - he deserves the break. Pitt v's West will make GREAT viewing!!

i think he is a very talented rider and kawasaki have made a mistake to let go and it's a great shame none of the other moto gp teams did not snap him up his 250 ktm win was excellent and he is excellent in the rain any where even on a crap bike so moto gp should have kept him

I dont know how the Kawasaki's will go next year but the bike they gave Westy in 2008 was crap, they have been in Moto GP since the 4 stroke era and have little to show for it, Westy is better off out of a team which has such a looser attitude, good luck Ant show them what you can do on a competitive bike next year!

Obviously Melandri likes the circuit as he was going better than normal on the Ducati during the race, West was in front of Melandri till his tire started to deteriate (wrong tire choice). before Dooda starts slagging West off he should wait and see how West goes next year, unless Kawasaki make some major improvements to the bike next year they will be dicing with the satelite bikes at the back of the field, when a manufacturer has been in a class of racing for as long as Kawasaki have been in moto gp and wsb with only a couple of podiums to show for it you would have to wonder how committed they are.

Hey Dooda and his ilk. The facts - firstly in this test they were on new (read different) tyres - fronts especially. Secondly, Hopper was using the "old" front that was only available to Stoner/Rossi. Thirdly, it is well established Kwak spent most of their early tests in late 2007 and early 2008 developing clutch etc for Hopper. Fourthly, Ant's points effort last year when he had the #1 crew was 59 points from 11 races. The 2008 bike is/ was developed for Hopper and he has 57 points from 18 races (yep... I know he didn't finish / race at all events but he did finish more than 11 races. Melandri in 2008 he was absolutely pathetic - ask Elias and Guintoli.....So back in ya box chocolate
