Motorsport is really dieing a death at the hands of these geeks. Motogp is going the same way as F1. They are going to have to start rigging races f1 stylee if they don''t stop this crap.

What a load of cr@p. Seriously they say they cannot govern electronics or un-invent technology.. but that is rubbish cause you can decide to not use it/allow it.

How hard would it be to only allow GPS activity across a certain range within a radius of the track (blocking any RF based comms other than approved stuff). This would stop the location traction. Then have random bike checks during the wkend 4 sensors etc as in the end this is how most of this stuff works.. This would put the control back in2 the hands of the rider & may cause certain people 2 fall behind but it would also teach the new crop of riders better control. We all ride on road/track with 0 ETC i am sure they can cope 2

These are the best riders on earth: remove the electronic wizzardry (or at least diminish its effect) and let them prove it.

moto gp is a prototype class. this is where companies develope their bikes to make them both more reliable and safer ( yes, and faster ) on the road. therefore traction control etc surely must be allowed.

the only problem i have is with things such as pneumatic valves ( leaking gas ) and gps for adjusting traction control corner by corner. these are the things which are not possible on a road going machine and should be banned..........

As a fan from the 500cc era I never bemoaned the change to four strokes. But the onset of all these "aides" is just becoming a bad joke. When you have riders coming up from 250cc and national superbike championships and saying the bikes in the supposed premier class are actually easier to ride then something has gone wrong. It has got to the point where electronics are devaluing the riders and the class itself. Would it be so hard to enforce the use of a throttle cable?

What in the world has happened to MotoGP, we've only had two exciting races this year, one at Laguna Seca when Rossi decided it was time to get inside Stoner's head, and Toseland getting stuck in at Phillip Island. Engine management corner by corner via GPS, oh my God. What happened to the days of seeing McCoy drifting sideways round a turn with the back tyre smoking.

They told us at Phillip island that the electronics are unpopular with most riders but the riders understand the huge advantages offered, Dorna also do not want them because of cost and the sterilization of racing, however the manufacuters are demanding electronics so they can pass them on to road bikes, If you want to blame anybody for the electronic situation blame Ducati, they are probably using the most sophisticated system ( Stoner relies to a huge extent on it ) they also introduced them to WSB ( in my opinion contary to the spirit of WSB ), perhaps the electronics should be restricted in order to lower the cost and prevent sterilization of racing, what do others think?

@Rossconz - If you want to blame anyone for the electronic situation blame HONDA. From 2003 the Repsol Honda team had at least one bike with a rudimentary traction control via the ECU. Once the advantage had been noted then all the other teams/ manufacturers got involved so that they could compete. The initial scope of traction control was to preserve tyre life, and allow for consistent lap times right to the end, giving the rider the appearance of "riding away" from the opposition towards the end of the race. It worked very well, and the rest is history. You can't go back though. Can you imagine an army without gunpowder, an airforce without planes?? ... not a bad thought though!!!
