Rossconz, I'll say it again, a few ks top speed differential means stuff all, no way Yamaha would sacrifice the M1s exceptional responsiveness for a tiny difference down the straight. Rossi and Lorenzo were fast enough to slipstream any bike out there, its what happens in the other 95% of laptime thats crucial.

Let me know of one race where rossi slipstream'd a duke :? only way to get past stoner was to outbrake him.

why there is no other manufacturer (ducati/ honda/ kawak or suzuki) telling us what they are doing and what's inside their bike? why it is only Yamaha?...

Are they afraid to telling to the public what's inside their bike????????

An M1 has slipstreamed a duc plenty of times this year. The last one I recall was Lorenzo on Melandri, at valencia i think.

Rossconz, i agree with you to an extent. I believe Yamaha still has some work to do on the motor (or possibly the electronics) as the area that was noted as being their weakpoint was acceleration not top speed. Most ciruits they are within 3-5kph of the fastest, which isnt always Stoner! also highlighting that top speed is not so important the whole time as Casey is on a bike capable of being top of the speed charts every time! On camera they have a visible disadvantage exiting the lower speed corners. Still, yamaha made huge improvments from 07 to 08 and have produced what is most likely the best bike on the grid. Im sure they can resolve the area(s) that they are stuggling before 09.

I would like to see Stoner and Rossi swap bikes for a race weekend, I know it's not going to happen but it sure would end some arguments :)

Serious replies only thanks..

Cheers.

Thanks for that Rob, but Stoner and his Ducati have been used as a comparison all through this thread..

Keep the serious replies coming.

Cheers.

Would love to see them swap bikes! both of them given say 1 day, a set amount of tyres (race not qualifying) and at a nuetral track... portimao!?! and it isnt the single fastest lap that counts its the best consecutive 10? 15? 20? laps. I know who I would put my money on. Unfortunately that will never happen :(

Out of interest from my earlier comment what is being disagreed with? that yamaha are still not the fastest at the end of the straight? though i also said that they are close enough and thats not the important part. the bit that they are lacking in acceleration? or the bit that overall they have the best bike but needs some minor improvements as stated by the team?...
