"Yamaha's EMS used real-time vehicle dynamics to optimise torque delivery."

You can shorten that to two words: TRACTION CONTROL.

Not many Rossi fans want to hear it, but it shows he uses TC to full advantage just like everyone else.

Waz, all the bikes on the grid have traction control BUT only the riders /teams know how systems are configured. Some riders like more intervention from the TC than others.

Wayne Gardner (on Eurosport) was saying how he couldn't believe the way Stoner just twisted the throttle to the stop out of every corner... TC in full effect there then, while you look at footage of Pedrosa and the throttle motion is more gradual when exiting a corner indicating he doesn't have as much intervention from the TC.

Also although the hardware all the teams use is fairly similar the software is developed by the teams so the systems will work differently and inevitably some will work better than others.

Waz, of course Rossi uses Traction Control. He has in some form or another for at least 5 years now. Rossi is the most talented rider out there no question, but he uses all the tools at his disposal to get the best out of the bike. I remember Colin Edwards when asked what would happen if they took away all Traction Control said something along the lines of..... We would be a couple of seconds a lap slower and we would be spinning it up everywhere and having lots of fun.

Well if Valentino has been using traction control for 5 odd years, why did we hear all this complaining last year and people wanting it banned because it was ruining out sport?

Seems to be the majority of Rossi fans were happy with TC while their hero was the world champion, but someone else comes along, Ducati and produces a great bike, with a great package and they are all up in arms and want things banned.

I think this says alot for the majority of Rossi fans in this forum, not really true fans of the sport. More like people who jump on a bandwagon. I guess they will follow Lewis bandwagon next year, thank god.

Nigel the question is whether TC and other rider aids such as GPS, extremely sophisticated EMS take away from the sport or the show and the question at heart of the matter really is : Do people want to be able to see who can build the best bike/rider/tire/team combination and finish 1st ? OR do we want everyone to be on similar equipment and lets see who the best rider is. That is the real issue in my humble opinion. I for one have an appreciation for all the riders on the grid. What I do not appreciate is a Race like Valencia 5/6/7 and sometimes 10 seconds in between the riders. What you do about it is another thing. . . . .

Since the introduced of the screamer engine (around 1997-1999), which much more aggressive and applying force constantly to the wheel and burns the tyre pretty quick. Only the skill of the rider could compensate for such a nasty piece of machinery while others with average skill we're throwing themselves off all the time.
Maybe that's one of the reasons Mick Doohan was so dominated in his era, a Traction Control were introduced then to control the engine reaction, so the race will become more tight and enjoyable.
With GPS things were much too far, The bike even knows which corner they're in and adjusted the right map not just for each gear but for each corner as well as the engine power ...

.... and what we see is the bike seems flying through every corner and exit it like an aeroplane. With the development continues we will see new record at every circuit every year.

So the races seems becomes boring again with this sophisticated technology, because a team with the highest tech will absolutely comes out as the winner no matter how skillful the rider is.

The introduced of 800cc seems just speed things up not slowing them, in 4-5 years ahead even 600cc engine will too fast.
