Great of him to keep going in the rain in an F1 car without TC, that will give him some practice for the Welsh forests :p

Go Vale!! :) :)

Races in MotoGP for a living, tests a Ferrari F1 car and does rally racing. What a sweet life! I''m so jealous :-o

Why the F1 Car doesn't have Traction Control in it? sorry I don't watch F1 ... with traction control I think Rossi would easily get in 1min 20secs or below.

They had until last season, they banned it to make racing more exciting (sounds familiar?)
Not sure if it worked but at least their championship went down to the wire...
almost down to the last turn actually :p

The TC really made little difference to the racing in F1 all the drivers know that to go fast u dont slide or spin the wheels, so they soon looked the same as they did with TC. they are mostly all so good it made no difference. tho it did mean drivers like massa had to learn more about throttle control(as he used TC alot-where button for instance rarely did) so he improved, but most had that control anyway.

I think it's rather questionnable whether or not it was actually a possibility for Rossi to join Ferrari, even 3 years ago. I don't think that these days, being fast on a motorbike means you're equally good in an F1 car. Sure, you have some experience with going fast on a track, maybe the technical side of things, but in the end, Schumacher isn't going to win in MotoGP and Rossi, IMO, wasn't going to win in F1. To come whithin 1 second is very good for someone inexperienced, but for a Ferrari F1 driver if you would be one second slower than your teammate that would be comopletely unacceptable. And remember, that last second is the hardest one to achieve...

They had an open door for him at Ferrari, don't underestimate his marketing value as well, Italian driver, Italian make,
already one of the most popular sportsmen around. It was the period when Schumacher retired... could have been good.
1,5 seconds off the pace is still a lot. But in a mere 26 laps... doesn't that tell you something?

Disagree Morgue and JJ while it's difficult to predict if Rossi would have been great in F1. These tests do show talent and ability for the lack of F1 experience he has. Given time to learn how to get the car to the limit he would have gotten closer to the top.
