Swings and roundabouts Blue Puma and Yam46! Some people will never understand that speed is not the be all and end all to winning a race. It's here in black and white, yet you still choose to believe Rossi must be superhuman to be able to win on this dog slow, total pig of a motorcycle that is a huuuuuuge 4 or 5km/h slower than the fastest bikes.
I reckon with a new set of plugs and quick carb balance, my old Z1R would give that gutless, ill-handling M1 a run for it's money. Look out Valentino!!!

Latterrus, agree with you wholeheartedly about the amount of work involved and the determination that was required. Valentino is ALWAYS the threat. It appears now that Casey is another guaranteed one too. It would be better if the rest of the field could constantly up the ante to be a force to be reconed with as the dogfighting at the front should slow the leaders down until the rest of the field could join the party.
I'm hoping that the "control" tyre will make this happen. If it's just a single supplier working hand in hand with a certain person/brand we will have another 3 horse race. I don't want that and I'm sure many others don't.

I agree with you A1 and I do undertsand that the version Rossi rode for his 1st race in Welkom wasn't as bad as the previous year's model but, even knowing this, was it the best package on the grid? The RCV at the time was waaaay ahead of it in terms of power and everything else. My point is, Rossi and his team had their work cut out for them from the very start at Yamaha and it wasn't as much of a cakewalk anymore like it was at Honda and despite this, they've still managed to win races and be the biggest threat to any team at the top EVERY YEAR since going there. THOSE are stats that can't be denied.

Ok Laterrus, try to remember that the Yamaha that Burgess put together for Valentino with Valentino's input WASN'T even close to the piece o' toilet that was raced the year before. Please drop the "moved onto a Donkey ride and turned it into a winner". Valentino rode the "Donkey" and told Burgess where it went wrong. Burgess using all his knowledge gained from years of HRC and Valentino's input(using Rcv as Benchmark) turned the ENTIRE package on it's head.
Yes he swapped manufacturer, from an arrogant "You listen to us" theory of HrC to a more welcoming "We listen to you two guys" from Yamaha.
Another theory is that Valentino's arrogance was "grating" with HrC's and teddie was thrown.

My point is, no matter how much people try to belittle Rossi's accomplishments, you'll never take away the fact that he's the greatest of ALL time. He's won on the best bikes and the worst bikes. He's won on the best tires and the worst tires. He's done soooooooooooooo many things to even list them all and people steadily rag him. Gives new meaning to the whole "Heavy weighs the Crown" thing I guess. Tell me something Bob, how many other riders have you seen, leave the best of everything to go and prove that they could win without it?

OOOOOOMG here we go again with the whole "Best of Everything" arguement again. I have a question Bob, why does all the non-factory riders not have a factory ride? Why is it that the factories chose someone else over these guys? My point is, if you ARE the BEST, you GET the BEST. I've said it before and I'll say it again, what was Rossi to say, "No sir, don't give me a competitive bike! How dare you offer me this top of line machinery"? He basically said that to Honda and went to Yamaha and STILL won Championships. Let's see Stoner leave Ducati and go win like that. We've seen Rossi struggle with his bike for 2 years up to this year and each of those years he was still a BIG threat.

Money on the green bike A 1, think you better get that rope ready.

But you are completely right of course about bookmakers, kudos to you.

Loser 27, as you have pointed out, the odds are set to get the best return for the BOOKMAKER. They are set initially to generate interest, then the odds change to cover all possibilities. So odds are a reflection of hope and toe jam lickers aswell as the "genuine" money makers that throw their life down the toilet chasing the adrenaline rush of a big win that seems so empty after the fact it's time for the rope and a tree at the bottom of the garden.

My money is on the GREEN BIKE!!!!!

Betting odds for next season, source BWIN

Rossi 1.75/1
Stoner 3.50/1
Pedrosa 5.00/1
Lorenzo 9.00/1
Hayden 18.00/1
Dovisioso 18.00/1
all others 200.00/1 or more

6 riders in with a decent shout (not 3 or 4), which all of us knowledgable people would agree with.
Stoner will not win it, bookies get rich of fools that back losers. Best outside bet has to be Dovi, followed by Lorenzo. Both will finish in front of Stoner.

Bob you are blinded by your ignorance, numpty.

Laterrus, what do you think the odds for next year are? I reckon they are going to be very close between 3, possibly 4 riders. If you think Rossi will be a runaway winner at this stage, then I don't know why you'd even be interested in the sport, unless you are one of the many 'star struck' masses that seem to be the type of fans that Rossi seems to attract.
"defying the odds" obviously has a different meaning in UK/Euro to Oz. Having the best of everything for the majority of his career has had a MAJOR impact on his achievements and nobody can deny that. I hope the tyre rule goes some way to proving what some of us have always known. Here's to multiple winners in '09. Cheers.

The Crown is back with the DORNA G.O.A.T. I wish Hayden and Stoner had the same help from DORNA.
