It was great to be at laguna seca to see the battle of he year. Rossi not only out raced Stoner, he proved to all the non-believers that he has a ton of fun still winning and battling in this sport of Motogp. Cant wait for the 2009 season to begin. :)

Destroyed? Is that like how Stoner Destroyed Rossi in 07?

Is Rossi the only one who gets to use an injury as an excuse? Hypocracy, I love it.

Do the Rose colored glasses ever get heavy?

Rossi destroyed stoner this year, from a 100 points in front to 100 behind, I make that a 200 point deficit for Stoner over the two years..must be one of the biggest beatings ever.....hopefully next year he'll provide Rossi with some competition providing his crutch(wrist)doesn't play up... :p

You're right though stomr, it could have been different, If Stoner got a penalty because of being overtaken by Rossi at Laguna and then proceeded to take his ball home as everyone saw, Rossi wouldn't have been able to equalize meaning Stoner would have won the championship 1-0....is that your point???

Christ, I almost forgot the main reason for the post!

I have to say (through the gritted ones!) that Valentino this year did the number on everyone to take the title. More importantly was the fact the rider who finished third in last years standings took the crown. We have had three different champs in three years which is only a good thing and lets hope this trend continues. It would be fitting for next years results to be:

1st. Danni
2nd. Jorge
3rd. Dovi
4th. Casey
5th. Valentino

The above would only be on a "It's your turn next" theory. Would be an ideal tho :p

Dray, nothing aimed at you with intent :)

Rossconz, reading your attack on Dray for my own words was the best bit of reading on this thread!

Nothing 'brilliant' about that move. 50% desperation and 1000% pure dumb luck. Again, two sets of rules when Rossi is concerned.

I agree baja.

My only gripe about the whole thing is if Stoner put that exact move on Rossi, the sheep would have been in an uproar about it.

The pass was balsy, briliant but balsy. Had he lost it in the sand it would have been pretty devastating to both riders. The greater the risk, the sweeter the reward......

stormr

Sure lets compare these race incidents-

Hamilton- clearly cuts corner, did not even try to brake, run off is tarmac, 4 wheels, returns to track in front of kimi.
Rossi- runs deep on brakes into corkscrew, run off is sand, two story drop in elevation, 2 wheels, returns to track parallel with stoner.

A ride thru penalty :? christ he should be given a medal for keeping that bike upright.

I have to laugh when I keep hearing Rossi fans claim he is the best ever, forget number of wins etc that is to do with length of time racing and changed circumstances. They obviously never watched racing in the 50s and 60s Geoff Duke was an incredible rider short carear but should that take away from his tallent. Then Mike Hailwood in 66 when he joined Honda he was to go for the 250cc & 350cc while Redman went for the 500cc, unfortunatly into the season Redman crashed and Mike had to take up the 500cc championship as well. If it had not been for bike breakdowns and missed early races Mike would have had all 3 would titles in the one year. So please stop going on about one rider, its sad. :?
