Tho i see his point, i dont really agree. WSBK is much more exciting these days and he isnt in that so life goes on without rider x or y.

sure people are his fans and rightly so, but one person is not bigger than a sport. if his fans left when he retires then they arent bike racing fans, just fans of his brand.

tho not taking away from the great rider he is and good racing he has produced, and the end of the day he is a just one rider.

For many persons including me, i think it's right since the only reason i watch motoGP is rossi, regardless of my status you consider as rossi lover or race lover... I used to turn off my tv as rossi out of a race, just like in 2007 season... ^_~

I can't understand what's going on with them all, I mean, F1, WSB, Motogp, WRC they mixing all together so often recently. Shumacher want's bikes, Rossi wants all differents, Briatore speaking in MotoGP column...W T F is going on??? maybe Massa will drive Ferrari bobsleigh on olympic winter games? you don't know? maybe it's a new fashion of good career...well, for me the crisis is going side by side with financial and attractive sport, but I wish everything'll change to the old order. Strange that everybody wants to change their rooms :?

Mr Briatore doesn't even know how right he is!! :p If Vale leaves, there are hoefully guys that I really like..... JT, Lorenzo, Dovizioso etc. I really hate to keep my fingers crossed for somebody who cannot accept his ass gets kicked sometimes........ What was really disgraceful?! Everybody could see in Laguna Seca...

I did cause your story is crap, clearly you are not a Rossi fan (and you don't have 2 be btw) but tell me how Rossi makes racing boring and predictable?

Laguna Seca, Misano, Brno, Montegi, China, Indianapolis, Le Mans

Just a coupple of races where Rossi rode very hard to win and had to make several passes to get to the front.

I think you mean somebody who rides a Ducati.

to the disagrees, i never doubted his skills or talent for a moment.

he IS just a rider, as great as ago, hailwood, read, duke etc all were. they are all people who come and go(sadly). rossi is no different, the press might make him out to be different but thats cos they are trying to make money and sell a brand-which many people seem not to understand.

i dont understand a fan that would switch of the tv or not watch bikes because one man is not in it. fair enough if thats what does it for them but i watch bikes because of my love for bikes and racing. i personally am a race fan first. a rider fan second.

he is amazing in todays era, but racing was around before him and will be after.

I don't understand why people say Rossi fans will stop watching after he leaves. Why do some of you think his fans are different from any other riders fans? Bayliss just retired, I was a huge fan of his, but I am not going to stop watching racing now. I am a huge fan of Rossi as well, and when he retires I will still watch and attend MotoGP races. Like any series or sport, when he leaves there will be a void left for a short period of time, but it will be filled soon enough with another exciting character (Lorenzo is my guess!).

I don't think he makes it boring or predictable either. Con'td below -

"Brendan,
I have no idea what pleb disagreed with you! There's nothing to disagree with in your comment. Rossi is an awesome rider, but racing is only as good as a rivalry within it. No one wants to see one rider miles in front every race (well, except the plank that disagreed with you!). In fact the racing would probably be more exiting without him."

The above quote is from Joe. Well Joe not so fond of people disagreeing with a point of view? Have to resort to name calling and abuse? Well there is a word for that.....Fascist.....

You are knocking him when you try to catageorize him as just another rider. There is something special about Rossi that sets him apart from most of the riders. The Laguna race clearly showed that as Stoner set that QP session on fire that he was predicted the winner before the race was started on race day. No ordinary rider stayed with Stoner except Rossi. Stoner had many oppurtunites to run away because he had the lead on a number of occasion but he just could not make that breakaway, even with the better bike that day. So once again Rossi is not an ordinary rider.

I don't suppose for a second that Briatore's sensitivities have been prickled by Rossi's interview comments in last month's Motorsport?

IIRC Rossi said that there were too many people in F1 like Briatore (named) who were not committed enough racers at heart and spent too much time on luxury yachts full of girls (although Rossi went on to admit he has no problem with yacht-laden girls per-se!)

No wonder Flav is on the counter attack.
