MOTOGP » Guintoli: Stoner understood something we didn't!

Sylvain Guintoli gives credit to Casey Stoner; believes four-stroke replacement for 250GP is a good idea.

It sounds like Mr.Guintoli knows how to act while being interviewed. He took full responsibility for his results and aknowlegded Stoners aswell. Kinda reminds one of another rider from Owensborough. Best of luck to him in BSB.

Nice bloke Guintoli. He is wrong about the switch from 250's to 600's though,
there will be no multi-factory presence, it will be an all Honda affair and they will call the shots. How boring

I feel sorry for Guinters, he was a good rider on the right day with the right bike setup. I think he deserves to be in MotoGp more than some of the other riders, unfortunately for him he didn't have the money to keep a seat in MotoGp. Good to get an honest answer from a Gp rider who has been there and done it, he acknowledges Stoner's talent. BUT what would Sylvain know, I'm sure there are a lot of armchair critics that will disagree with him.

Guintoli was a rider I believe had a promising future in moto gp and I think he is being very diplomatic in his assenment of 2008. Melandri was interviewed at Phillip island and he said that because Casey could ride the bike Ducati would not make changes to Melandri's bike even though he had requested them, Elias said Ducati would not supply up dated parts to the satelite team and when they did he finished on the podium, as soon as he told the team he was leaving in 2009 they removed the parts and the results slumped again, before anybody starts on about changing bike spec every rider has different requirements based on his style consequently most team bikes differ from each other.

Too bad that he got forced out by Toseland and Colin in 2008. Seems like he was just getting a hang of it on the 2007 Yamaha. Too bad he also was on crappy Dunlops or he might have placed a bit better.

I think Ducati, more than other factories, rely on their very 'sophisticated' electronic engine and chassis management package. I am of the opinion that this not only de-skills the sport but is actually very dangerous. It leads to incidents where the natural ability of the rider is supplanted by the electronics. Unlike a computer landing a Jumbo jet (which I prefer to the pilot doing it) I would rather have a top class rider piloting the bike not the electronic package.
Not only that I CAN'T stand that twerp Stoner!

Just wondered what order the riders would finish in if all electronics were banned from next season? My guess would be Rossi first, but i'm not sure if the Ducati would be as rideable. I think Jorge and Dani would finish higher than Stoner.

Bam Bam - why?? Stoner comes from a dirt track background same as Hayden, without electronics they would adapt faster than many of the ex 250 riders. From what Ive read the Ducati actually requires more precise input than other bikes, but you need good feel first which is where other Duc riders get stuck.

Good on Guintoli for telling it like it is, having moved from GP he had a perfect opportunity to be as honest as he wanted to and he gave credit where its due.
