Edwards intends to stay in MotoGP

Edwards switched from the factory Yamaha team to the satellite Tech 3 outfit for what was rumoured to be his final grand prix season, but the change of environment - combined with the increased competitiveness of the 2008 version of the YZR-M1 and its Michelin tyres - has convinced the Texan that MotoGP is where he wants to be.

"There was talk about maybe going back to the AMA [next year]," confirmed Colin, who has qualified on the front row twice from the three rounds so far held, with a best race finish of fourth.

"But it'd be difficult with the bike working as good as it is, Michelin putting in such a big effort and me feeling so good on the bike to say 'see ya, I'm going back to the states'.

"I definitely want to stick around [next year]."

Edwards' 2009 plans may also have been influenced by uncertainty over the future format of the AMA championships, following the recent sale of the series' promotional rights.

The Texan's rookie team-mate and fellow double World Superbike champion, James Toseland, has already been confirmed at Tech 3 for 2009.

Agree with you there R Sole(nice) I think anything would be better than go to AMA. Its hard enough to watch over here as it is. And next year we've new formats im not even going to bother trying!
Just gets my goat that everyone gives him a hard time for not doing better in moto gp. When there are a hell of a lot of others doing worse.....
