Sweet Jesus
It seems to me that his biggest competition is his bike and getting things sorted so it stays in one piece for race distance.
Here's what I don't get, He has a full team of mechanics, engineers, data guys, assistant mechanics, etc.. etc.. all supporting him and the bike so he can concentrate solely on the business of riding it, and yet with all that support he cans two races (one because of a slipping clutch and another for a broken shifter arm?)
If I brought my bike (also a yammy) into the local shop for servicing and rode off only to have my shifter arm or clutch malfunction I'd be fricken livid.
This is a Pro team with Pro mechanics and staff.
No excuse for this stuff.

Ben Spies fourth after five days at Yamaha!
2 agree.
@kneedragon1962 Yeah I know ol painless and some of the others are just poking fun and yes I'm a massive spies fan. Truly a gifted and blessed guy in the craft of riding. It frankly bothers me to read poeples posts and hear tv announcers marginalize this guy's achievements. I felt myself asking at multiple times throughout the season "cripes what's this guy gotta do to get some respect? win all 28 fricken races? will that be enough to shut you guys up then?" Actually I sense that the more this guy succeeds and achieves the harder people will come up with b*ll**** lines like "oh well that was just on a streetbike so it doesn't count" or "well it was raining that day so like it wasn't fair"

Ben Spies fourth after five days at Yamaha!
3 agree.
cont.. Yes it was great to watch him win and succeed but after a few races it was plainly evident that this wasn't just another rider having a good season this was a guy that was racing against the wrong competition simply put. The fact that this point is still being debated is comical and I'm guessing has something to do with his passport because if he was spanish/italian/british/australian I'm guessing there wouldn't be any of this doubting and downplaying of his talent level. Sad really. There does that clarify my point? we're all clear that my original post wasn't serious and was simply used a device to shine a light on others who foolishly feel he is slightly better than ordinary?

You guys suck at sarcasm, really... He's obviously a talent like few others, (aliens, doohan, spencer, etc.. etc..) I made such an outlandish and irrelevant statement because of the silly posts of others trying to marginalize his success and talent. Frankly it's laughable. As if some one winning half the WSBK races in a single season is a regular achievement, or smoking everyone in all but 3 superpoles is a yearly occurance. Hell even Stoner was quoted as saying "He's in the wrong series and needs to move to GPs". It was plainly evident to those of us on this side of the pond that he was a class above the SBK regulars. cont..

I think we can all agree that clearly this result only confirms the fact that he: - Sucks ass - Is lucky on an ongoing basis - Is American which equals sucking ass - Smells Bad - Only showers on a quarterly basis - Uses dirty water while showering - Is a known kicker of puppies - Doesn't wipe properly - Has never owned a toothbrush - Uses a compass to pop his whiteheads - Has never had sex with a woman - Frightens children - Eats his own dandruff - Is a crappy rider for reason #472 - Reason #472 to be revealed at a later date Yep, clearly this streak of performance is purely coincidental which of course will be proven during the first round at Qatar where he'll finsh 25 in a field of 17.

Fabrizio feeling sorry for ‘winner’ Haga
6 agree.
1 disagrees.
I think Mary Spies gave birth to Ben specifically to rob Haga of a WSBK title. Imagine that, how dare she have sex with Ben's Dad like that and let herself get impregnated knowing full well that Haga had the 2009 title in mind. Sheeeeesh, talk about selfish huh?

Super Spies basks in WSBK title glory
8 agree.
9 disagree.
I think we can all agree that Spies winning 14 of 28 races, 11 of 14 superpoles and winning the WSBK Championship in his rookie year on tracks he's never seen before is entirely due to luck and offers no proof that he is a competent rider. No need to thank me for bringing the obvious to light, it's what I do. PS. that was sarcasm in case you missed it. Grats Ben, You Rock, Seriously.

Camier ‘gutted’ but encouraged on Aprilia bow
I think we can all agree that if you're not as good as Spies right out of the gate then you basically suck ass, have no hope in life and should take up knitting or crotchet as a Plan-B career. No need to thank me, it's what I do.
